The Rim

Personally I always find bragging not at all polite! I would like people who have something not be so full of themselves. It's always nice when everyone has a chance of getting something at the same time, not seperated by months.

Give Russ a shout. Matt appears to be WAY too busy for this. I emailed Russ, he got it Monday, he confirmed my address and then said he shipped the books that day. In theory, they'll be here by the end of the week, give or take. At this point I'm not taking anything for granted, but it's more of a response than I was expecting, so I have hope again.

From the way he said it, it wasn't lost so much as a case of the squeaky wheel. He asked for the shipping info to cut out having to dig up the invoices. Had I not poked at him, I don't know how long I might have had to wait.

This is my point, how is it that some people who ordered it are getting it while others are not. I emailed sales and this is the response I got:

Thanks for your enquiry. I am afraid that The Rim has been pushed back to an October general release due to some issues with corrupted files which has meant that we are re-building the data for the book.

Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience. As soon as the book is ready again to print and is shipped to our US warehouse your copy will be sent out to you.

Is there anything I can do to get a book that I ordered. Like I've said before, if nobody had gotten the book I wouldn't be so annoyed, but multiple people got it before. And why should they have gotten it when I already paid for it.

To people here, is emailing Russ something that I could do to satisfy this. And if so, what is his email address.

I really want this problem to be solved. And I think I have a right to complain, others got it and why not me when I have had it on order long before they did.

Email Russ. Sales doesn't help, has no idea we were promised books, and isn't quick with the response in any case. I emailed Sales as well a long time ago, and we see where that got me. Russ responded within a (business) day and claimed that the books were shipped the same day.(Edit: The "same day" was yesterday. I don't know if any of this is true, but it's more of a response than I have gotten from anyone else lately. If I actually get them, I'll post that too.) He also said they had some in stock and ready to ship, which is contradicted by Sales' response...trust the new guy. Or at least try it out over the salesbot.

I have the same problem: some people got the book while others didn't. Some were promised a book and didn't get it. That sort of thing bugs me. If it had been pushed back, that's fine, I understand that. Pushed back, promised twice and never received? THAT is a problem. Hopefully it's one that's going to be resolved soon.

After posting here I emailed Alexander Fennell who is in charge of retailer and distributor queries. I figured I might as well because his email was in the customer service section while Russ is not. He just responded to my email with the fact that a copy will be shipped to me within the next 7 days.

I find that this response to my queries was very good and shows to me that at least somebody knows what is happening and seeks to fix the problems.

I plan on giving them roughly 10 days before emailing them back if I haven't gotten it yet.

Hopefully sometime around a week from now I will have my copy of The Rim and be able to put this many month long incident behind me.

Gabriel, I would be very interested in hearing whether or not you get the book.

Maybe this will show them that they shouldn't give copies to people in an open house when others have pre-ordered previously. I figure that they would have considered those that already paid ahead of time of those that did not yet. But, well, I guess I was wrong.

Just to chip in here, I am never to busy to listen to our customers, whether they have a problem or just want to have a chat :)

However, Russell is our new mail order guy - he has very few other duties, and mail orders are always his priority. We are just sorting out the last of our supply problems with books (we have already sorted them out for miniatures), and you will soon see our mail order department is as efficient as the rest of the company!

Well the books I ordered did actually arrive. Good things, both of them. So yes, Russ was able to actually resolve things, so if you're still short on preordered books I'd contact him.

Russ is indeed the Wizard of Mail Order :)

He will be very happy (!) for me to post his email address for any one here with a query - rveal@mongoosepublishing.com
