The Rim

Hi there,

I didn't finish updating the release schedule yesterday - it will be up in perhaps an hour, just as soon as I have finished tweaking.

So...since some people did get their copies already, do those of us who preordered actually get ones in advance as promised? I know some people did, so that's a little strange if only some are special enough. I'm not eager to wait til October after watching it slip past all the other dates it's slipped past. Matt never did comment on the preorder promise. He also said it was minor printing and distribution problems, so the content should be the same, so unless the Rim is going back for additional editing, it should still be ready to go. But if that was the case we'd have gotten them a couple of months ago, when they were originally promised, so......I don't really know what to think. Well that's not true, I know exactly what to think, but I'm hoping there will be a better resolution than "some of you get them, some of you don't, suck it up".

Hi guys,

If you pre-ordered any books and have been waiting a while, you will be getting your books very soon. Our new mail order guy (Russell, see Planet Mongoose) is hacking his way through to you right now!

Just to say that this new guy is very good. Most of my emails in the past months have been ignored, but within 3 days of me first emailing Russ, I have here in my hand a book! I'd got the one I originally ordered from ebay, but was able to change my order and get something else instead :-) Very happy.

I'm glad to hear that Mongoose staff is responsive and helpful. I wish more companies were like that.

(Customer satisfaction is important, after all)

Which one did you email to get your order sorted out? I'm willing to give it one more try.

I thought the issue had been resolved for those that pre-ordered the book. I just emailed Mongoose and they said the book ad a file error and information was lost.

Seriously, what is going on. Am I never going to get the book that I already ordered? Because if so, I think I need to cancel the order. This is getting very tiring.

Even my patience and respect for what Mongoose Publishing has done can only last for so long.

No resolution that I've seen. And no email response yet either, but it is the weekend, so I'm ok with that. If I actually get any real movement on the books I'll post here, but my hopes are not high. If you hear anything new, let us know as well, and good luck to you, Mage Ash.

I am sorry you feel that way - however, please remember, these books have not been released yet. In some cases, they do not exist as a finished product anywhere. It is not as if we are sitting on a pile of them, cackling!

As soon as each of the books in question are ready, a run will be produced specially for those who have pre-ordered them, and these will be sent out some time before the general release.

Your right, and in general I wouldn't have a problem with a book that has not come out being pushed back.

But, looking and reading this forums I have read that various people have access to it. They have access to ti because they went to a meeting or a game or something in your building. I would love to do that, I really do, but I like in an entirely different continent from where your offices are and I cannot.

In some of the cases they got the book without actually ordering it ahead of time. I, on the other hand, have already ordered it.

And this comes my problem - they have it because of the luck they had of being near to your place, while I am getting nothing despite the fact that I have ordered it months and months ago. Considering that they physically picked up the book at the meeting, couldn't you have sent it to me or something equally like that.

This is the issue that I have with the recent events. Though I will end by saying it truly hasn't eroded by continued plan of buying Mongoose books that I like, but it does have me thinking a second before I buy anything unless the physical book is in my hadn when I purchase it.

Also, and this is a final word, when I put the book on order it was roughly a week or so before the book was going to come out the first time. It really wasn't a back order thing, it was "oh, its only a week, I can wait." And then all of a sudden it became months.

Okay, I guess that was not the final word, but this should be. Msprange,I do appreciate the fact that you are explaining what is wrong and the problems that developed. It is nice to here why the book is delayed rather than a stony wall of silence, so I appreciate that.
