The problem I can see is the decidedly mixed reaction to the first one. By and large I seriously doubt anyone whos not an existing B5 fan is going to buy it and in all honesty though I DID enjoy it I certainly dont think its going to convert anyone who DOESNT like B5 anyway.
Now the problem is out of the (relatively) limited viewerbase of B5 Fantatics if half of them HATE the lost tales and say 'its poo were not going to watch any more' then I'd suspect Warner Bros. might think... 'hmm do we really want to spend loads more money making more of these?'
As for redoing the CGI for the originals, well frankly I think it would be well worth their money, I mean honestly how many B5 fans WOULDNT rebuy all 5 series if they did this?

I didn't buy the special editions of the Star Wars trilogy, heck I still haven't seen RotJ. Redoing effects is uneccesary and is essentially asking us to part with money for old rope.
There has to be a lot more on a DVD that redone effects to convince me to buy it again.
I would much prefer to see more Lost Tales. I want more plot and character, not more sound and fury.
And the problem with the redone Star Wars and so on in general for me wasnt the redone effects it was where they actually CHANGED the story or the voice acting etc.
And Im not saying that Id rather have the redone originals than more lost tales. Believe me on that one I would FAR prefer new material. But Its just that looking back at, especially series 1 of B5 the special effects just look so... fake. And then looking at lost tales the ships are just beautiful.
I'd take redone SFX if they were offered as a free upgrade to my DVDs. But I wouldn't buy them again fo the same story but with flashy FX. B5 was always more about the story than the effects.
"same" being the operative word. I've already got the great story. I wouldn't pay money to get the great fx, when I can instead get another series such as BSG and get great effects plus great new story!
Again a valid point, but Id still like to see it done. It would be nice if they offered a discount to those who already have the boxes or something but Id still like to see it done. Theyre doing it for Star Trek TOS after all, so why not B5, which is an infiinitely better show (all hands brace fro die hard trekkie flaming!). I want it all dammit!
(still its all conjecture anyway since I doubt theyll do it, B5 just isnt the juggernought Star Trek is so I cant see WB ever signing off on this, as much as I love it, I have to admit that B5 has something of a fringe cult following rather than the massive legion of Star Wars and Star Trek fanatics out there.)

Too bad they would not only have to remodel but also reanimate everything :-( Do everything back from scratch with only original episodes as guide...That's not likely cheap process :-(
I checked out several forums including on JMS own web site to try and get some indication of sales performance. Unfortunately I didnt get any solid data.
