Has anyone watched this movie yet?

Watching a clip and a discussion about it left me wondering how to handle this using Legend and more importantly different enough to actually be worth playing or running it.

So first off Vin's character is an atypical fighter who is part of a group hired to hunt and fight spell casters.

So first off they're been hired by the Church who consider any spell caster not of their faith as a threat and more than occasionally their target has been women and not all were actually spell casters some were either misidentified and killed before that could be revealed or considered an actual threat and either killed and later identified as having been killed by a spell caster rather than reveal the Church aren't big on equality.

So Vin's group end up being wiped out by a single female spell caster, Vin himself is spared from this fate for reasons unknown.

Sent with a newly ordained priest to investigate they later learn Vin's habit of occasional good nature was witnessed and the reason why he was spared and not the others.

So we have a priest, a fighter and a sorceress come together and discover a big bad is using the Church to takeover the local kingdom and in the process slaughter a lot of people to insure his rule and cover up the fact its completely unprovoked making a mockery of the Church's standing.

The key point is that although it seems set in the past this is actually set in a post apocalyptic future so you can have various technology still surviving but keeping the weapons and armour archaic due to lack of suitable resources to produce steel or guns for that matter I'm more thinking there are trains but railways are limited to within civilised cities and maybe a few leagues beyond until it reaches the reclaimed wilderness.

So overgrown ruins of cities have a sunken London replace the Atlantis of legend with stories of the time before the ancient cataclysm with occasional discoveries of lost troves of technology sp you could have some clad in say Captain Jack Harkness's trenchcoat and a revolver with a pack of ammunitions which no one can make replacements for...

I guess steampunk would make an interesting addition!

So would that be a good enough premise for the start of a game to you?

I haven't seen the movie, but from your description, it could work as a good Legend Setting.

Legend would probably be one of the best systems for integrating the surviving technology with the medieval/magical basic premise of the setting.

Could be very interesting...

I read an interview with Vin Diesel and this is based on his old D&D character, so it should be easy to convert to Legend.

Been watching a few of the Sword Coast Legends you tube videos' and they got me thinking.

How to start off such a game.

The Players wake up in an Inn that's come under attack several of the paying customers have already been attacked and killed and in the process some survived long enough to raise the alarm.

Its clear that someone has set fire to the exterior of the Inn, any attempt to try and find a large enough window to escape through will come under fire from attackers on the outside and that's even if they manage to overwhelm those already on their floor or coming up the stairs with sounds of combat still going on downstairs.

They need to arm themselves and when they can don armour and retrieve their possessions before heading downstairs just as the front entrance caves in due to the raging fire outside.

Even if they figure out how to reach the basement they still need to head out via the rumoured catacombs down there and past whatever guards are lying in wait either down there or just outside the exit.

And that's just the beginning!

Looks like a great game, the scenario is interesting enough!
