The Gloranthan Timeline

Mongoose
Is there a single product that includes a timeline for Glorantha? I don't even know what the default year is supposed to be. All I have, at the moment, is the Deluxe Rulebook and I didn't see anything there (not surprising though as it's really just the crunch of the system). Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

King of Sartar

King Of Sartar has a very good timeline for the Dragon Pass area. It is also what the writers of the game books use as a 'bible' as it were.

It is also a good way to get into the Gloranthan mindset as well as being a very good read! :D

It is well worth it!

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, the book is out of print but looks interesting. I'll have to see how much it goes for on the secondary market before I make a decision though. For all the times I've played White Bear/Red Moon & Dragon Pass, I have no idea what the official ending was.

I'm not sure there is a default year for Glorantha as such. There appears to be a default year for Mongoose 2nd Age Glorantha (908ST).There was a default year for RQ3 which was 1621ish (Genertela Boxed Set). The default year for WBRM doesn't really apply since the game covers the Hero Wars era. Nomad Gods fits in somewhere after the founding of New Pavis (since it is on the map) but is mostly time-independant. King of Dragon Pass was set in resettlement era (1300's).

I've run games in the 1240's, the 830s, the 1340's. I'm working on a boardgame scenario that covers from pretime to 1200, another from Dragonkill to 1700.

There are many timelines out there for different areas and peoples. Are you looking for something specific?

Or you could just get it from Amazon.com?

It's either 907 or 908 ST as Dragon Pass is in the Two Year Winter. I'm sure it says somewhere - in fact Glorantha the Second Age has it as 908 (p14). However, nothing stays the same and the default year should move on as campaigns get going.

If you take the events from Peter's Timelines and put them all together you get an idea of what is hoing to happen in the nearish future.

Things look pretty bad for almost everyone.

Just a thought about 'King of Sartar':

Stafford wrote it in the style of conflicting historical narratives. Most everything in the book contradicts itself at some point - so while it is a useful tool to see into what Stafford had/has planned for Glorantha, it must be taken with a grain of salt as it were.
