I would have thought Im uniquely place to comment on someone being bitchy...
we can smell our own

Clearly somethings got your goat.
You were claiming that all fluff in SST HAD to be written from SICON's perspective a couple of days ago and had a go at the first person to disagree with you (Although at least you had the decency to drop the arguament once the bulk of the forum came in on the side of reason...),
then this incident.

Just figured you'd wanna know, don't really care if you stay that way or not :D

Excelsior didn't sell it to FFG btw. They went bankrupt, it defaulted back to the IP holder Paradox (Mongoose were offered it when they were buying Conan off them... or was that Chronopia?), and years latter FFG come out with their Mutant Chronicles prepaint system (On account of the film coming out).
I think the Warzone rights are still available...

Well let's see.. I didn't claim it HAD to be written from a SICON perspective, just that I liked how it was written that way because it set a good tone to the setting. And I only commented enough to get the ball rolling and frankly, the Author (you know him as Msprange) sets the tone for how the books are written. Buships put in a bit of fluff that appealed to some people, but he's still on the SICON perspective side. Here's the post that outline why, at least from my perspective, the books are written from the SICON perspective: http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=476941#476941

Why would I say something after all the other posts of criticisms only to go after you know who's post? Because it was melodramatic. You're welcome to make all the criticisms in the world, but to expect no one to call foul on a comment like 'slap in the face'? How is getting shafted by the company you signed a contract with to deliver models of a set quality pre-painted to a set quality, having then telling the fans what's what, and then trying to get a really good deal (and I'll admit, I was wrong...it was a software company) with a company with enough free-floating investment capital to make investments with better, higher quality factories which COULD make models in the quality originally promised by the original company while releasing additional games... only to have that fall through. Now, they're looking to us like 'well...this is where we are at..what now?'. If anyone got a slap in the face, I'd say it's Mongoose..with the amount of money invested in the pre-paints falling through, then the lawyers being even more of a hurtle than before...

And I could have sworn someone bought Warzone from them when they went bankrupt, but didn't do anything with it until handing it over to FFG, at least the IP where they killed dreams of building an IG army of the Bauhus (is that how you spell it?) for me.

Well, I have read every post in this thread and thought it over a lot. I wish I could take my original vote back. So here it is, MGP.

Continue the current line either unpainted or painted in the original scale of the past 3 waves or

Just give it a rest. I am not about to get into another Battlefield Evolution game if the original is left unfinished nor will I accept playing with a different scale.

Thats it! Have a wonderful day!

After thinking about it for a while I voted for #4. All I want is the same setting. Re-release the game with unpainted models, fix a few rules and get the game going again. Support the game that was released (ok, minus prepaints). Take all the plastic models and release them unpainted at a reduced cost. Those that love the prepainted won't be happy, but they could continue to play the game if they wanted to. There is a little momentum left, not much but a little, and it can be used.

I could not agree with you more. I will not be buying or supporting any Mongoose products anymore. This is not the first time Mongoose has pulled support for their games after promising brighter futures in forum posts.

How about option #5

You refund me the price on the following:
MEA Infantry Squad x 5
MEA Fedayeen Squad x 3
MEA Technicals x 2
MEA 2S6 Tunguska x 1
USMC Infantry Squad x 4
USMC Force Recon Team x 5
USMC Shadow RST-V x 2
USMC M1A2 Abrams MBT x 3

PLA WZ-551 IFV x 4
PLA Type 99 MBT x 3

I won't go into detail on the amount spent on Crescent Root Terrain / 1/64th scale Corgi minis to go along with what I thought was a great NEW product!
This is a big slap in the face to the folks who bought into your product line. (along with your company) What brought me to your product was the PRE-PAINTED FIGS along with the time period it covered. I recall picking up your flyer you had describing the game along with the FUTURE product releases! WTF happened to that early-mid 2007?
Thanks MGP.
:x

As someone who sells this product and plays this product I would like to see things continue in some way that is similar to the original, pre Ubisoft, plan. I think the original game structure could work in a prepaint and regular model fashion. If people have the option for both painted and unpainted models then the game could survive. The scale is good as it looks to me more attractive than a lot of heroic 28mm scale models. Mongoose should be able to compete in a market with Rackham/FFG's AT 43 as Matt and company have a good rule set and a good feel for this game.

Going OGL could allow for fixes to some of the units point costs and would keep the Evocommand crowd in the mix. If Mongoose really wanted to do something with this great system they could combine the current set as an OGL with a further into the future system that is more fully supported by Mongoose.

(sorry, but pre-paints are not going to happen any time soon).
This really kills the game for me. I like the original, straight-from-CNN-headlines setting, but I could live with a different one. I like the rules as they are, but would not mind some minor modification. But I would not have bought the game in the first place if the minis were not pre-painted. This changes the status of the game for me from "easily accessible" to "beyond my horizon".

Sorry, guys, I'm leaving (for other games with prepaints, to be honest).

Trick is, each time one of you pre-painted guys leave, there's less of a reason for Mongoose to explore it when it fiscally feasible for them to try investing in it again.

So, in effect, by taking off, you kill how you wish the game to be.

Your miniatures are still good right now. You can still play the game. And by continuing to play the game, you keep the demand for pre-painted miniatures alive.

Read his message again. Any time soon. That means there's a chance they will try to invest in pre-painted miniatures once again.

I admit that I have not invested a lot to this game (two infantry squads and one tank) so I am able to soak the financial loss quite easily (which is not necessarily the case with many of you). One reason for my lack of "support" for the game was that I am new to minis games in general and my friends are not that keen on playing miniature games (there is no way in hell that I would be buying figures for them  ). I am not using proxies and actually it would be quite hard to do because they are not that easy to get around here.

I got some terrain but not much as I played at my FLGS.

The reason I got interested with the game was that the miniatures were pre-painted (I am not that good at painting and I don't have much time to improve my skills as my time for hobbies is quite limited). Still, I would like to see the current line supported even with unpainted plastic minis. Those should be comparably cheap and the game would keep going and hopefully gain the momentum that it has lost.

Build from there and keep the new minis comparable (in scale) to old minis (and give us the Hummers 8) ). That would keep the game alive although it would drive away some of the players it might bring in some others who shy away because of the pre-paints. Meanwhile Mongoose should be able to think ways to get good quality pre-painted minis with affordable price.

Maybe a max said, get the rules into model kits like airfix, Forces of valor have done a free download to use their metal models, with simple rules, nice to see a sherman up against a modern tank..!!

" Right lets go hunt those lawyers.." !!!

It's not as if MGP had a hidden and evil plan 18-odd months ago to get people to buy a few waves of minis and then keep you on the edge for a few months more or anything. I can understand dissapointment, but anger and hostility for a company that's constantly trying their best (regardless of their record of success, I'm astounded at how passionate and enthusiastic the mongeese are) to provide good games for peopel to play? This isn't GW removing and reinstating support for Specialist games on a whim here.

If they keep the odd scale, they need to release something at least (prepainted or not) to keep it alive. Switching to 28mm won't do any good. There are so many others that do that, proxies will be bought more than the MGP products (unless you can sell yours cheaper, MGP).
Switching to 1/72 scale only would help if they do a kind of deal with a large producer of both, infantry and vehicles (including aircraft).
Just saying 1/72 is now official Evo scale makes people again rather buy other's stuff than MGP's. So, either withdraw from miniatures support finally and just re-write the rulebook (to fix the rules that obviously need changes in some spots) or go on with producing kits in that 1/65 scale.
Hell, I'd rather like to paint some minis fitting the prepainted I have than getting nothing.

Well... I have to admit, didnt see that one as being the party you guys were in the talks with... but that would have been so damn sweet had it gone through...

And then to my opinion on what I would love to see in the future of BFE...

More miniatures...

I echo the words of many others... in that it is a miniature game... that I have religiously purchased everything for all my chosen armies... the USMC and the MEA...

And I want miniatures... more of them... and I dont care if they are resin, plastic, metal or prepaints... I just want more of them... the game is too sweet to be left off like this... and the damage to Mongooses rep will be bad if you drop it completely... So yeah... continue creating lovely models for the ultramodern warfare... in the same scale you have done thus far...

The publication levels do not have to match the SST... but a unit or vehicle or two a month alone would keep the interest levels up... As long as they are somewhat balanced along all the different coalitions... Maybe keep it simple like a unit or a vehicle for one or two armies each month and then a unit upgrade or other such singular/double model for the other armies...

But please do keep some semiregular support in the form of miniatures for the game. Articles and such are all nice and good but are ALWAYS less for the dedicated miniature gamers than the actual models...

While I can't believe that there are only 42 votes on this, it doesn't surprise me that options 1 & 2 are neck and neck!

To those who are demanding a refund, I'd just ask if they have had no fun or use from the products so far? Get a grip, guys. Even if no more models were released for this game, PERIOD, I know that the fun I have had from the games I have played has been worth every cent. And the vast majority of models I use have been from MGP, so I have supported the miniatures line... (Not like those heathens who use proxy models, maybe we should hunt them down, eh Dorb? It was THEM that killed our game..... )

All this said, I have been playing with toy soldiers for a lot of years. I can paint troops, but it did appeal to me that I could play a game WITHOUT having to paint up first. But painting modern soldiers in this scale won't phase me too much at all. (After all, little men in Chinese factories manage it all the time!) And if the vehicles can be done without having to glue individual track links down, I will be over the moon. (GRRRRR Italiari tanks.....)

So, give us more mini's. Keep the scale, 'cos when it comes down to it, if you can tell the difference between 1:64 & 1:72 in vehicles on a tabletop, you are just looking too close! I make it about 8% difference, but my math is appalling! The infantry, though, have to match up with what is already out there. Unless you can produce 50-odd plastic troops at 1:72 for under US$10, which I suspect you can't.

But please don't abandon this game. It is far too good to be let run off the leash!

Man, to put it simply I just want a new kit and new basis rules... you can come up with any names for the game just as long it is on modern eras. And make sure before summer (April-May) I see the games, don't want to compete with 40k 5th edition.

Matt,
Is continuing the current line in its original scale starting with wave 4 in metal or resin unpainted an option you are considering?

So Matt, assuming that there is some sort of unpainted BF:Evo stuff to come out, what sort of timeframe would we see? I'm not trying to pin you down here, just want to get a feel for what you guys are thinking...
