I don't play RPG's but for a chance to play in Jim Butcher's Dresden Files world I'd RPG :)

Providing it's based on the books and not the TV show.

I actually like the show, have not read the books yet, but it does just seem to similar to World of Darkness, or Mage.

The series also seems more like serious version of buffy with a dude instead.

The guys that made FATE (google it, its a free rpg based on Fudge) already have a Dresden Files rpg in the works.
Fred and Rob have been working on this for some time and are hoping for a release towards the end of 2007, I believe. It is based upon the books and not the TV series, in part because the two property rights actually have to be negotiated seperately and the TV series is still evolving.

They are quite serious about the development of the game and really want to get it right, which is where some of the delay is coming about. Some of the playtesting led to a restructure of certain parts of the rules, which is how FATE-2 evolved into FATE-3.

If you are interested in the basic mechanic that goes into the Dresden Files RPG, you might try Spirit of the Century (also by Evil Hat games), which is a 1930's pulp adventure game using the same system.

DFRPG will not be exactly the same as SotC, but should be very close. The biggest changes will be in terms of the magic system, as Fred and Rob needed to come up with a better way to simulate magic as seen in the books.

Looks like it's going to be a great product!

Apparently it's a slow process, since they're only in "alpha" playtesting.

I'm still pumped up about a Dresden Files RPG and would be interested in almost any game system, official or not. :P

Why not try Unknown Armies? Magic system would need a rejig but its still easily the best "current" occult/paranormal game around.

that show was cool.

I agree that the show was cool, but it isnt nearly as good as the books are. If you havent ever read the books, get them, read them, fall in love with them, take them to bed, then read them again.
