Thought I'd post a mention about this,it sounds interesting!

Here take a look for yourselves!

:D
Thanks for stopping by folks! If you liked the Space Wreck show, I'm sure there are others that might tickle your fancy, cos Traveler (and Paranoia) gets mentioned from time to time in some odd circumstances.

On another note, thanks to those of you who commented. Chatting to live, interested intelligences has made a big change from teasing the spambots and it's been lots of fun. (my fingers keep typing fum, but I'm not sure what that is or if I'm having it.)

Hope you guy/esses continue to enjoy the show! :D

I took a listen to this podcast - the episodes "Space Ship Wrecks" and "Arrrgh, here we be, Becalmed on upon this desolate siding". They were both fun to listen to, and offered interesting ideas.

The format is, apparently, a group of old friends, gamers, that pull an idea out of a hat (or something), then take a week to come up with ideas for the show. Each one then presents what they came up with, the others critiquing, kitbitzing and otherwise peppering the discussion with ideas and asides.

Its a very comfortable, friendly format that I found easy to listen too. Its not just a polemic bombast by one supreme being after another. Some of the ideas I found to be great, some not so much, but they were entertaining to listen to anyway.

They did not get bogged down in the specifics of a particular gaming system, for example, and are just popping out general to specific plot ideas. While I'm pretty good at coming up with that sort of thing, and bog down in the details (creating NPCs and ship stats, for example), this show is not about the details. And I get idea-block just like everyone else, I guess this show is aimed at that audience. The shows are in the 40 to 50 minute range, a little long but not so much. I listened to them while doing household chores.

In short - I recommend this podcast.

In the interests of full disclosure I'm Kevin's mother. Just kidding, I never heard of this podcast or any of these people before seeing this post, and in fact had turned a stink eye on gamer podcasts. So this was a nice surprise for me.

Okay, I'm good. *wheeze*

That gave me a fright. Okay.

We're delighted you're enjoying the show! You're absolutely right about the format: the specific details aren't generally as interesting as tossing around broader ideas, and we've found that if we drill down into precisely how the games would work then there's no conversation about things. (That happened with the Mexico Is Missing an Island episode, as an example.)

Anyway, we're recording the kind of random chatter about games we'd be doing anyway, so the fact people are having fun with them is great.

If anyone wants to contribute, there are all sorts of options available at http://www.hoarde.net/bigredcouch/?page_id=418.

Yeah, I know what you mean about the details. I find that different gaming groups find different things challenging, and you prolly know your players better than we do.
I have moved away from number-heavy systems lately, but I've been known to spend some time with a bunch o blank NPC sheets and a die to make up random walk-ons, then file them as low/medium/skilled/boss for later. I guess that might work for ship stats too... (YMMV.)

I swear we try not to waffle too much. I promise if anything blows out over the one hour ten mark I'm gonna cut it in half for release, because at that point we are just playing silly bleepers.
