Tentacles Convention, Germany, 9th-12th May

For those not in the know, Tentacles is an annual convention supporting games by Issaries (HeroQuest), Mongoose (RQ & Eternal Champion) and Chaosium (Call of Cthulhu). Naturally there's a high Gloranthan content and the Guests of Honour are Greg Stafford, Sandy Petersen and Charlie Krank. Other luminaries include Jeff Richard, who's contributed a huge amount to Glorantha over many years, Rick Meints, CEO of Moon Design, and, um, me.

But these aren't the real selling points. Oh no... the REAL selling points are...

1. Its brilliant value for money
2. Its an amazingly friendly convention
3. 95% of the con is in English, so you don't need to be a fluid German speaker
4. Its in a castle overlooking the Rhine
5. Its an amazingly friendly convention (worth repeating this, coz its true).

There are, of course, all kinds of games. Tabletop roleplaying in the traditional style, including RQ games. (I'll be taking some Elric, at the very least.) Freeforming is represented in the shape of Sandy Petersen with his notoriously great fun 'Evil High Priest' game, and Simon Bray (Black Yinkin on these boards) will be presenting 'Masters of Luck and Death'.

And you have to witness German hard-core Trollball to believe it.

So if you have the 9th - 12th May available, and can get to Bacharach-am-Rhine, this is a terrific weekend of gaming, drinking and stunning scenery.

You forgot to mention the beer

Ok, enough inciting people to alcoholic vice. The con is recommended for all those who live East of the Pond, and possibly even for those who come from across it. After all, if the official excuse for the endless debate about houserules is that we want to have a "generally accepted" ruleset for conventions, then if we do not attend conventions we lose the excuse for our flame wars.

Hi All,

I must agree Tentacles is a fantastic convention and well worth going to. It has some of the best GM's some of the Gods of Roleplaying in attendance, good accomodation, cheap and nice beer, that combined with the wonderful company and family friendly atmosphere it is a must for all gamers.

It is probably worth mentioning that there will be a Glorantha Q&A Panel with Greg Stafford, Loz and myself at Tentacles. We will be answering your questions about the Second Age, the Heortlings, Esrolia, Dara Happa, Heroquesting, the Underworld, whatever you want to know and ask us. Greg and I will also be talking about specifically about Esrolia and the city of Nochet.
