Tech Level Chart

Banded Mongoose
Being new to Mongoose Traveller I was wondering whether the TL chart from Classic was effectively included in this rule set, in particular the standard jump drive progression limits ie at TL9 a jump drive can be built to model D, H at TL10 etc. or whether all the drives can in theory be built at all TLs from 9 up with the computer software providing the jump limits?

The core rules also has a short description of tech levels which includes when jump travel at different distances is developed.

Thanks people, not quite what I was after though, Classic had both the tech level restriction on drives ie only jump-1 at TL9 and 10 but it also had restrictions on what standard drives were available at different levels so I just wondered if this restriction still applied, but then I suppose High Guard bypasses thisanyway as any drive design could become a standard drive.

The "standard drive" designations are an abstraction in MgT. If a standard J-drive X in Hull Y exceeds the TL allowance on Jump level, it isn't available.

A lot of people also either make up their own new TL tables (based upon their own setting), or merely use the "standard TLs" and make notes on any changes (as say, 2300AD does).

Page 4 of the book mentions the TLs where Jump drive types are developed. Say you're at a TL of 15 though. A Jump-1 might be cheap to buy or expensive to restore, depending on the world you're on and the price of things and Jump-3 drives are much cheaper and easier to work on in most shops you visit. It may be better to get a Jump-6 if you have the money and are in a hurry to get somewhere.

And have the fuel capacity to utilize it (assuming you want to use it as more then just a Jump-1) and additional space for the drive itself.

Short answer; Nope.....
