The Far Trader is common throughout human space and found almost everywhere.
Most are working as small freight and passenger ships, moving cargoes too small
for the big containerised bulk freighters serving the sector mains.
However, others have been converted to dozens of specialist roles to suit
particular requirements or situations.
An example of this is the small fleet of Type AM2 medical ships operated by
Star Medicine Incorporated (SMI). These began life as standard far traders,
under a variety of names, before being purchased second hand and converted into
specialised medical ships - effectively mobile clinics.
