actually one good thing about GW is they do tend to have 7-8 years between editions now.

In there financial report, explaiing this year's drop in profits GW have stated their intent to return to a 5 year release cycle. The change to 7-8 years for a couple of the core games was down to the Lord of the Rings liscence and their inability to do what they needed to do with that along side publishing and marketing a new update of either fantasy or 40K. Still, 5 years is ok I think.
