So I really like the plucky little Tanith Space Defense Force ships. Alas, they are seriously flawed.
The Fighter gets the size and cost of the armor completely wrong. It doesn't match the size or cost of any type of armor available so I don't know where it came from. The best I could come up with staying as close to the original design as possible is this. Armor is only reduced by 1, Fuel is reduced by 2 weeks. Also, the cost they list isn't correct even for the values included in the printed design.

My redesign further reduces the fuel to 1 week, but with a life support endurance of 24 hours that's not a big deal. But by applying space saving to the engine, you can get that last point of armor. And making the laser energy efficient so it doesn't require as much power as well. Also, made the laser high yield to improve it's fire power enough to be a credible threat to lightly armored opponents.

The SDB has an entirely different issue. I don't have an issue with adding a firm point, the ship has enough extra size that it makes sense, since it can't add a full hard point by the rules. But the fact that they are trying to run a militarized vessel with only 3 crew, and needing 2 gunners by the rules just by itself, just makes it an impossible design. You could run this ship for maybe 12 hours before crew exhaustion set in. Also the cost they list is incorrect even based on the printed design equipment costs.

It's overkill for a small system defense boat, but I included a full military crew. Doing this required lots of space saving but I still managed to keep the total power at battle +10% to absorb a critical hit without reduction in capabilities. I also tried to cut costs as much as possible but it's still more expensive than the base design by 3.5MCr. You also loose 1 ton of cargo space, which means 1 ton of missile reloads, but there just wasn't enough space to keep it the same. I kept the hull as standard rather than going to reinforced purely for cost reasons. Dropping it to a light hull would drop the cost in line with the original listed cost but I felt that was inappropriate for a combat vessel. If you don't mind adding another 3MCr to the cost, dropping the Inefficient from the M-Drive allows you save another ton+ on the power plant if you want the cargo space back.
