System Review - Noricum

Emperor Mongoose
Should be labeled a red zone due to bio-hazards that are present. Also, if they avoid meat because of toxins, and boil the water because of toxins, and make fire breaks because of toxins, those prized turnips are going to be grown in ground watered from the planet full of toxins…. So the ground would have toxins in it to transmit to the eaters of turnips. That description should be changed to fit reality better. The rest seem fine to me.

Even on Earth, the higher up the food chain the more toxins accumulate in tissues. That's why the fish some prize so much today as 'health food' is actually dangerous with the accumulation of various heavy metals and other chemical/biological contaminants especially in the heavily polluted asian waters. Much further down the food chain the content of toxins is far less though not completely missing but still livable... mostly. People on Noricum aren't dying outright like they do from consuming the local animals. Remember the population at age forty commits a form of suicide. They may already be sick from accumulated poisoning and this may be a way out.

Also they avoid the Danger Zones. They're near stone age but not stupid. Their homes are far less contaminated and they take all the precautions they can greatly ensuring survival and making life possible. They found regions where the war's ravages had the least effects to the surroundings. Soil has been separated clean from dirty. Water is boiled before applying to crops. It's still not perfect but they're not all dead.

Then there's the starport. You tell me there isn't a market for some sort of local items or service for even basic off world foods and water plus what we see on Earth today when we bring in ever increasing tech advances to survive - water purifiers and better crop methods. As more people come you may see more devices to make local regions habitable especially around ruins.

Noricum has plenty of life and adventure potentials.

If the environment is deadly to natives, it's even more deadly to outsiders who don't have any resistance to it. If there's enough traffic to justify the trip there, a space station in orbit of the gas giant is more reasonable.

Travelling to noricum with all its hazards would be risky for anyone who doesn't need to go there for a specific reason.

You are right that there's potential reasons for adventurers to go there. But there shouldn't be enough to justify the larger starport.

And this is why I was hired on after auditions. I can take a situation and 'be brilliant'.

The situation there IS a starport on a world with a low tech population. There are several factors that make life there ranging from a big pain in the ass to you're dead BUT there's a starport on that planet. BE BRILLIANT! And so off we go as I have been doing in the other posts. My short acting career would have ended immediately if I said "This makes no sense! It can't work! You change it or I won't do it!"

The stage has been set in Sindal and on Noricum. The referee and the players are now ready to be brilliant and make it work. I can (and have here) make any of the systems in Sindal work rather just giving up. Noricum has a great background in the small description given. Rather than Bob's Bait Shop you have a highway rest stop with gas, restaurant and souvenir shop for a lot more people. You might do all your business there or go check out the local color. There's one small adventure already but there's still more for a ref to create. GUYS (and gals), THIS IS THE ANCIENT CAPITAL OF THE REGION!!

So go to Noricum and be brilliant.

I'm all for players going forth and being brilliant. My last toe adventures had "zombies" and the second adventure had them blowing up a moon, accidentally of course. So in that sense I totally agree with you.

However I do like some of the underlying portions to make some common sense. In the Imperium you could at least easily wave aside the starport issue because all listed ones are run and paid for by the Imperium. But that also means planet back stories and tech and starport should make sense.

A D star port seems too much for a stop over like this. An E or X makes more sense, us it has more potential for adventure being more questionable and less formal, especially to fit this particular planet.
