Survival and Advancement Rolls

I noticed that almost every career and specialty has the Survival and Advancement rolls add up to 12 EXCEPT a few.

There are inconsistencies with:

Drifter - 14 (maybe this is OK)
Noble(Admin) - 10 (This is wrong and should be upped to 12 like the other specialties)
Dilettante -11 (Should increase Promotion roll to make it 12)
Scout - 14 (I think you should reduce the Promotion roll to make it 12).

Interesting, I didn't see that before. Always fun reading what others catch or see.

I wrote 3 career books for Spica for MGT1, these are the kinds of things that you notice when you are trying to keep your new careers balanced with the published ones.

I first noticed it on the table on page 19. Once you see it, the odd-ball ones pop out at you.

I'm not a fan of equality, symmetry, or homogeneousness.

Fair enough, but I was just pointing out that it was ALMOST consistant and that if it was deliberately inconsistant in those careers then OK, but if it was just a miss, they could fix it.

Probably just a coincidence if any of them added up the same.

I would agree if it was only a few, but almost all of them add up to 12, that says to me that someone started out that way but things ... drifted... later.

Physical, leave the Mental to the Psions.

I would LOVE to be a deadheading "Working Passage" Drifter on any starship, any time, any where... Just saying

I'll join you.

This is intentional :)

It will always be hard for a Drifter - fact of life.

Fact of Life 2: The rich have it easier than everyone else. No, it is not fair. Nobles are not interested in fair.

Scouts are hard for balance reasons - they are the most independent career and (typically) the most rounded characters. This is the price they pay for that. Plus they get ships with no mortgage.
