...after the new Tunguska gets a hold of it.

Aren't they moving to a four-bladed main rotor? Maybe a future version will have a mast-mounted radar, ala the Apache Longbow?

I dunno about the super cobra, but the Tunguska has got my vote! Sorry evil, but I had to shoot the SC down  . Man am I off topic or somethng!

ok future lynx

friend i went to colledge with 7 years ago, was with me when i got a call my wife was pregnant lol, works for westlands, and worked on the british longbow program as part of the design team.

the future lynx is being redisigned at moment to have a shorter nose cone, and a new shape of tail as they recon they can beat its speed record !!!

if you go down to yeovil (about 10 mins from where i used to live, they have a field with these cages where they test the rotors, and air frames, if you ignor the acces only road sign you can drive past them.

has mongoose considered talking to westlands as regards to the design of the lynx ? as they are a very friendly bunch and very enthusiastic.

also the lynx is going to be very fast and agile for BF-evo be nice to see how the rules repreent that ! maybe allowing it to do evasive manouvers or something ?

forgot to add

the apach (british version) is a replacment for the lynx for the moment but will be phased out around 2015+ so their is a good chance we could still be using them in the BF-evo time frame. when they are being replaced by the future lynx.

also of note the first british kill with a apach was a french armoured vehicle (i just think this is funny good ol payback)

I'm a little surprised that they went for the Supercobra for the Marines (in EVO at any rate). I'd have expected them to have the Comanche.

i thought super cobra was MC and Comanche was army ? mind you im often wrong about american organisation, still cant see why the usmc dont use bradlees

just thinking actualy, as far as table top goese, would their be any real differance between the super cobra, Apache and Comanche ? they all exibit at a 1/65 scale the same abilities and can all cary the same payload of weapons on average, although the apache was invisaged to carry smart weapons for the Comanche to control to target.

so maybe its the same stats for all ? or allow different weapon options for iferent types, ie if you take such an such weapons its still a super cobra but can be represented by a apche and again give it a lack of a few missile and some tech and it becomes a Comanche ?

The Comanche has limited stealth and is intended for armed recon. I think it's currently only intended for US Army use but there was talk of a "navalised" version originally. There might be little difference between it and the others functionally in EVO, but it just looks so damn cool !

The Marines use LVTP amphibious APCs and LAV light vehicles currently. They probably don't use Bradleys as they aren't fully amphibious and are too heavy to be airlifted by (most) helicopters.

Its timely demise was more to do with a realisation that its intended mission didn't exist any more (in fact may never really have existed) and that existing helicopter designs could do the jb much, much better. IIRC the funding released by the cancellation of Commanche went into buying nearly 800 new aircraft and upgrading 1400 others.
