Suggestions for convention games?

I'm seriously considering running a Traveller game at RockCon this year and I'd like a few ideas on possible scenarios to run. So far I've considering the following:

1. Run "The Starchild" from S&P.
2. Run "Type S"
3. Show the flexibility of the system by running a "bug hunt" scenario based on a popular sci-fi movie.
4. Something else.

I've run wargaming sessions at cons in the past, but this would be my first RPG game. Any suggestions on what I should run and how to make it a success?

I would heartily recommend any of the BITS adventures
I ran Spacedogs at Q-Con in Belfast this year and everyone
enjoyed it 8)

What's wrong with writing your own? That's what I usually do for Conventions.

Makes sure you can customise the PC to fit the plot (pre-generated) and also makes sure the scenario isn't too long or too short for the time slot given.

Every time this question is asked, I answer it the same. The adventure One Crowded Hour by Avenger Enterprises is one of the best possible fits for a convention game. Converting it to Mongoose should be extreamly easy since it is dual statted for CT and T20.

What deck plans do you use when you run it? The ones provided doesn't seem to fit the events described in the adventure.

I have some character backgrounds and adventure ideas on my old GURPS Traveller site. I ran these at Gen Con and some local cons. I never really wrote the adventures up, just used the description and had it in my head after play-testing a few times.

In my opinion, making characters you can get into easily (stereotypes, basically) and fairly linear adventures work well in a 4-hour slot. Give each character a chance to shine and a climax at the end and some encounters in the middle ready that you can drop if the game is going to long.
