Strontium Dog - Armor ... Armour ... Durability???

Hi Guys ... I wonder if u can give me some pointers on armour within the MGT & SD rules. Basically, what are the rules for armour when it comes to durability? I can't get my head round the basic concept of how durable it should be when the players come under a multitude of laser, blade, phaser, alien acid, booby trap, etc, hits?

What I mean is armour defence is subtracted from the damage done to the character ... fair enough .... but the armour doesn't degrade in any way? ... or does the armour only last for it's defence value??

Does that make sense??? Any pointers appreciated! Walts

Armour doesn't really degrade when taking hits. Except for something like Ablat which vaporises when hit by laser fire. Each laser hit reducing its armour value by one.

Of course one is free to implement rules where armor does.

Thanks AW, thats what I thought. I did run a "lose 1 point from the armour value each time hit" to the gameplay on Sunday, which reduced the players armour slowly, but I'm still not happy with gameplay on armour, although I've had a lifetime of D&D fights which never decreases the armour class\value.

The characters got into a fist fight (does armour reduce the damage caused by punches to specific parts of the body?), daggers, phasers, laser bobby-traps and laser blasts, so a general reduction of 1 was allocated too all attacks which hit ... which "worked" OK ... need to have think on this one. The odd thing for me is that armour absorbs some of the damage, rather than give a (D&D) DM to being hit ... guess I'll have to adjust! Walts.
