Im new to the forums but i have been looking for almost a month now with almost nothing on sst:evo. I personaly like MOST of the changes but i still want to know a bit more. Also i still see nothing in next months releases and that worries me.

Yeah, its pretty likely given how all the other 'big' announcements turned out...
Still as someone said, you don't need to be ready to launch to have enough stock for GenCon (I know Im going on like a broken record here though lol)...

Do we really need another thread about the delays?

The next S&P will tell us what is going on. Only three days.

Chill

This is not the Thread you are looking for Move Along Move Along

(Thinks Starwars)

Someone should tell MGP that Jedi Mind tricks don't work :D

I stand to lose nothing personally if the game is delayed. When it comes, it comes. Anyone who owns the current rules should be able to play a game of Starship Troopers. Or am I missing something?

You're missing us poor schmucks who can't paint. We want to play, but we sure as he...ck don't want to buy unpainted lead that will sit in our basements for a decade if pre-paints are only a month out.

well i dont own the original rules. I am waiting on the Forth although it would be nice to know what they are getting before building a force of the 2 machines we have seen. may have to wait a couple of years until all forth releases are out (maybe a decade or so ;) ) before deciding what to get.

I hear you. But..

What is the difference between waiting to buy mass produced prepaints, or buying unpainted stuff now and getting someone else to paint it like any number of the contract painters out there do? Either way money is being paid for painted figures.

I concede it is easier to buy a box of already painted stuff being slightly more convenient for people looking for the painted option. A fellow in my group has been waiting for prepaints to get involved due to time issues. However, he played in a recent game and it got him energized to start assemblying some Warrior Bugs right now.

There are many courses of action to take to get painted SST figures on the gaming table. Even though I like painting my own Bugs and MI, I've got some great deals on ebay in recent months, including painted figures. And with all the sales going on, I believe it is quite possible to get the unpainted figures and get them painted for close to current retail prices.

Waiting for the Forth. I can certainly understand impatience if that is the army you're interested in. My perception though is that most of the impatience is coming from established players of the game. That is what I don't totally understand.

I'd add that anyone who wants the current rules along with 16 MI and 20 Bugs can pick them up for $30-$45 US on ebay with shipping (within the US). I just picked up 2 more box sets for $35 each with shipping in the past 3 weeks. I had 3-4 box sets from last year and I was giving my extra rulebooks out to friends in my gaming group to build interest in the game.

If you already own a bunch of the metal models. . . there are a number of online painting services that will paint them for you. Won't be works of art, but at least they will be painted.

Well, I own a few models, so I could go that route. But then, when the prepaints do come out, the paint jobs won't match. And I still have an aversion to online business, which doesn't help me finding painting services. And the models I have don't make a very good army by themselves--I would have to buy more figures to have anything reasonable to game with. And I don't just need to do this for myself, I need to do it for all my time-challenged potential opponents. All of these problems are surmountable, but why bother to surmount them if the prepaints will be avaialable soon?

(I am also interested in the Forth, which doesn't help...)

I'm still waiting for the dropships that they said would have been out a year and a half to 2 years ago if we belived eveything they say.I would like to see the new stuff so i can expand my already large MI and Bug army but i know that i'm going to have to wait at least another 2 years before anything new for them 2 armies comes out.

I dont care about the prepaints cause i'm going to have to strip them so i can repaint them to match what i've already got.
