Hi guys,

We have just posted this, and it will be of particular interest to Traveller players - can can read the whole thing at http://blog.mongoosepublishing.co.uk/?p=849

One question: Is the dog in the photo the one who modeled for the dog in "The Calixcuel Incident"? They sure look similar!

Looking forward to all the goodies. Thanks for posting.

Matthew, I have a question about the Element-class boxed set. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it intended to go along with a campaign setting? If so, how do you (and/or Martin) intend to handle naval careers? Will there be partial mustering out? Or do travellers in such a campaign never muster out? Just wondering since key benefits of character development occur during mustering out.

This, insofar as I am familiar (since I missed T4 and GURPS Traveller and have no idea what transpired in either) is the first time it has been suggested to run characters mid-career rather than post-career, and I'm wondering how you'll handle that.

Ah ha, you have hit the nail on the head!

Ostensibly, this box set showcases the Element cruisers and includes their blueprints. What we really want to do (and the reason this is a Kickstarter) is add a second book to the box set that tells you, chapter and verse, how to run 'bridge crew' campaigns. If it really goes well, we would also like to add Naval Adventure 1: There's No Power, Cap'n! (we might change the name on that one).

But basically, yes, like the Great Rift was not just about the Great Rift but added deep space exploration, we would like this set to not just be a ship (actually three, but I digress), but an entire campaign style.
