Hi,
getting ready to start playing VAS. Odds are I will be supplying both fleets for the first few games. I was wondering if you chaps can have a look over them and see if they look like good sarting fleets. I wanted to avoid carriers and subs for now.

Royal Navy
`````````
Renown Class Battlecrusier
Norfolk Class Crusier
Southhampton Class Crusier
J Class Destroyer
J Class Destroyer
J Class Destroyer
Kriegsmarine
```````````
Scharnhorst Class Battlecrusier
Admiral Hipper Class Heavy Crusier
Deutchland Class Pocket Battleship
K Class Light Crusier
K Class Light Crusier

At the moment I'm a bit limited byt the figures I have available but would be happy to see any suggested models.

thanks

They look fine.

The Brits and Germans should provide a good game, just don't pit either of them against the Russians... (that was a painful game to watch... :wink: )

They have a few unbalanced PL's. Specifically the Gangut-class Battleshipwhich is only a raid level ship but is just too good for raid. But it seems to be too weak for battle.

The Cruisers and Destroyes all seemed on par with each other, but the Scharnhorst was totally outgunned by two of these ships (even atfter it had been shelling them for 3 turns as they approached to get their own guns in range [45" range vs 26" range])

All it took was a couple of turns of long range fire (over 20") from these two Gangut-class BB's (Gangut and Marat) to cripple the Scharnhorst. Who in return had been able to almost reduce one of them bu half damage.

It was quite funny looking back at it... the first salvo of fire for the Gangut resulted in a Magazine explosion which stopped the Schranhorst from firing for 3 turns... then the second salvo from the Marat crippled her and destroyed all three turrets.

It was the long range fire that sealed the Scharnhorst's fate as it essentially doubled the amount of damage the Gangut and Marat could cause due to plunging fire.
