Starports now in Stock!

How much is "general" and how much is "OTU"? I.e I found Robots quite useless while Central Supply and (to a lesser degree) Cybernetics are useable.

Good question.

Nooo kidding. My wallet is already warming up to the burning stage.
There's a creme for that.

I don't have to worry, my wife raids my walled and takes all my credits every night.

Just to let you all know, Starports is now in stock. It will be appearing in stores in 2-3 weeks time.
Any chance of a preview PDF or contents PDF (so we know what we're letting ourselves in for) :) ?

In FOR? I echo the request but only so I can be more excited from what little the preview reveals!

Considering it is listed as a Third Imperium book while Robots, CSC and Cybernetics are all general supplement Traveller books, I imagine that Starports is going to be heavy OTU but considering the nature of the book, I imagine it'll be useful in other games with some tweeking.

Mind you, this is only a guess. I have no direct knowledge about this book.

Just to chime in here, personally no matter what the focus of a book is, generic Traveller, 3I, some other setting... there are always ideas to be gleaned from it and used... even if it's how to NOT do something!

I would hope that it borrows a bit from GT's Starports book.

Though I would have suggested a few alterations to C, D and E ports that aren't quite Classic. Though this is me shooting my mouth off before I actually see the book.

Of course, please don't hesitate to shoot your mouth off after you see the book. Alternative ideas are always welcome and greatly appreciated.

Not seeing it on Amazon yet.

Mongoose is almost as bad as AEG about listing on Amazon in a timely fashion.

Amazon manage to screw a lot of listings up on their won though.

LBH

Yes, but for effective listing with them a publisher goes and makes sure the listing is put up timely and accurately. If you wait for Amazon to do it, well, then you wait however long it takes. Amazon prioritizes by how well it sells, so if your 4E D&D, Amazon takes care of you pretty quickly. If your a much lower volume seller, you get taken care of whenever they get to that low on the totem pole.

So if your a publisher who wants to maximize your Amazon volume sales, you better interact with them yourself. Otherwise, you could have a product out there, and Amazon may take months to get around to listing it as available, and if you print small runs, like Mongoose and AEG does, Amazon never lists it because when they do the distributors are already out of their inventory, so then you can only get it through the secondary market.

So when you wait for Mongoose or AEG products via Amazon, your typically going to be waiting months, and then when it is finally listed, it will be by secondary sellers, not Amazon themselves.

So your better off looking for other discount RPG sellers, and getting several books at a time from them, because then you still save nearly as much as you would via Amazon and their free shipping.

I agree with the general sentiments re: Amazon and Mongoose products. I never go to Amazon for new publications; I wait to see what various stores offer through eBay's "Buy It Now" feature and usually end up paying much less for both the product and shipping.

With "Robots" and "Cybernetics" I had massive problems ...
I would recommend Sphärenmeister's Spiele, an online shop with basi-
cally the same service as Amazon, sometimes even a bit faster, and al-
ways a lot more friendly.

Oh, and the German "Roboter" supplement for Mongoose Traveller is ra-
ther good, I prefer it to Mongoose's own supplement.
