Unless a remake of the movie, or an updating for new FX, it's unlikely to have enough of a fanbase to be worthy.
Me, I'd like to see a better one than the FASA games. They were fun, and so was the movie, but both are dated, and I never purchased the big box board game. (I did get both the small box games: the duel and the tunnel chase).
I do love this film, kid with a dead end job/life, rushed into space to fight a war....
And that starfighter was a cool ship, the bit when he steps down in front of his mum, and shows he`s a hero, and not a wash out.. great..
Since most was cgi, should look great today, in fact, maybe they should re-release it with better cgi..?

Better CGI indeed! That was the FIRST movie EVER to utilise a Cray Supercomputer. It took literally days to render those shots into a usable sequence! This is before your gee-whiz technology that you see today, people! Never been done before then! Never!
