Star Wars ?

Just read that Wizards are dropping their Star Wars licence in May, how about a Traveller version, or more different, an RQ version ?

Now that I'd like. Actually either would be good.

This are excellent news.

Normally I would say that WEGs d6 or licensed Savage Worlds are the best systems to portray Star Wars.

But I agree, possibly the traveller system is also quite good for it. The longer I think about the more I like the idea. (as long as it is not d20, I am fine :))

Infact i jumped on here to talk about this as well...

I was playtesting the new JD tabletop rules " much better then the old " and its on hold for another system using i think the same rules, all i know its sci-fi and the would blaster was used in a old planet mongoose thread, with the licence for grabs etc, could a tabletop version of JD be coming out for " starwars ".

For me, the rules would be used for halo, gears or any ideas i have, starwars tabletop seem more to mass battles maybe, as well as a lot of figures to design and mold.... ?

The new JD system can be used for any conflict in any period, and hope they get back on track soon...

I would love to know whether Mongoose will try to get the license for Star Wars. But i beg you mongoose, PLEASE PLEASE NOT TRAVELLER STAR WARS. NO NO, PLEASE. You will kill it for me. If you do get it please do it as a stand alone system not TRAVELLER.

While Traveller would not be my top choice for a Star Wars system, I'd sooner see it connected to the license than RQ.

I would love to see a Traveller: Star Wars, if only to confound people's prejudices about what Traveller can or can't do.

i don't think either would work, i'd prefer a MUCH simpler game system...i am however exceptionally biased as i thought the original GDW version was the definitive Star Wars RPG

Cubicle 7 will most likely beat Mongoose to the license if there is going to be any takers.
Considering they both work out of the same offices, it'd certainly be interesting to be a fly on the wall if that race ever happens :D

Personally, if I were looking at a system for Star Wars, I'd probably go for FATE (as used in Starblazer Adventures) but then FATE is my favourite system. It has to be said that a license the size of Star Wars deserves its own custom made system, and I for one would kill a meth-addicted Rancor armed with nothing more than a Moncalamari water-polo ball for the chance to work on one ;)

As much as I like MG's stuff, and I do, I would rather give it back to WEG. They did a great job, and they could revise & update the whole series quickly and effectively. The D6 system really felt right in capturing the essence of the Star Wars universe. Simple, quick, and scalable.

Thats my $.02

You haven't kept up with the current state of WEG have you? With the way WEGs is now it would never happen. Its not the same people that did SW and there's just no way the WEGs of today could do it.
