Squadron Strike?

On Facebook there's a post linked to a photo image showing what looks like 5 Imperium spaceships with what looks like Squadron Strike! Traveller.

The post is enquiring as to what its all about so do you know anything about it?

Squadron Strike is a set of rules by Ad Astra games for 2d/3d space combat - the kickstarter is for the Traveller adaptation.

Matthew mentioned a "Traveller Ship Combat Box Set with plastic miniatures" when responding to a playtest topic concerning fleet scale battles.

A bit over a week later after Matthew's post, Ad Astra Games launches the Squadron Strike: Traveller Kickstarter.

I'm thinking this is all a coincidence, or is it?

Don't think this one has anything to do with MGT.

I am hoping Matthew's comments are indication of a Mongoose Traveller A Call to Arms: HIgh Guard or some such game (Victory at Sea has potential for adaptation to a Traveller capital ship wargame IMHO).

To be fair, Matthew statement was about certain rules being better suited to a miniature traveller game SHOULD the appetite exist for one. There are no plans for a miniature game today that we know of.

If you have a look at the Ad Astra website, you'll see that the Squadron Strike Traveller set uses card 'boxes' for playing pieces, not miniatures - which fit in with their 3D movement system. I'm thinking that these would probably be some of their 'Power Projection' minis that are being used to illustrate the 2D gameplay, but will not actually be included with the finished game. Still think a Mongoose Traveller ship game with minis would be a great product.

Ad Astra did produce Traveller minis for use with power projection originally.

The latest stretch goal additions to the kickstarter allows you to access minis - the old fleet boxes plus some new ones.
