Spinward Marches : World list?

Hi,

Unless I've overlooked something, the index for the Spinward Marches book lists subsectors but not all individual systems e.g. Vilis sub-sector and Arden are listed but not Caloran.

Has anyone here created a list of individual systems in the Spinward Marches, along with the sub-sector they are in?

TIA

Ian

If you can get hold of the original CT Supplement 3 book or the pdf, all worlds in the sector are listed by subsector (as this was the set up of the book).

you can also get world data from the Traveller map at (http://www.travellermap.com/)

you'll have to zoom in as far as it'll go though

what I want to know is...

how the heck does one get to Garden system in the Alone subsector of the Reft sector?

it's more than J-6 to reach and misjumps seem a remote if unreliable method

There are several worlds listed with a trait of "D" and "De"
De = Desert according the main rulebook but then what is D?

If it's Darrian subsector, then I'd assume "D" is "Darrian Commonwealth". Otherwise drawing a blank right now.

D and then a number? (like D1, D7 etc)?

If so, D is the proportion of Droyne in the population. D1 is 10% droyne, D2 is 20% droyne, etc.

Hey, great resource! Pity there doesn't seem to be a way to print out actual 8 1/2 x 11 sheets, though. But playing around with the map is fun.
Going to "galaxy view" sure gives one an idea of our insignificance....

Ah. That appears to be it. Thanks.

Read through the API page, there is a poster option (e.g: http://www.travellermap.com/Poster.aspx?sector=Spinward+Marches

to create full image poster which you can scale to your printer. There are options you can add to make it look they way you want to.

FYI, a sharp-eyed user of TravellerMap.com recently let me know that Spinward Marches 2519 (Rylanor 0109) was mis-named "Plannet" - in Supplement #3, SMC and RS it's "Pannet".

This has apparently plagued the .SEC files floating around the 'net, possibly since the GEnie uploads. If you google, most references are incorrect.

I've fixed this in my data files (which have other issues...), but even "cleaned" data such as the files on http://www.spinwardmain.net/sector-files/ have it incorrect. :(

What does the new MGT supplement have?[/b]

I was playing with the Spinward Marches world list in Excel and noticed that when I get it to generate Trade Codes from the UWP it produces more than are listed in the Spinward Marches book which is a little odd. It is as if the number of codes listed in the book have been capped or some ignored. I am using the codes as defined in the PDF of the Mongoose Traveller rulebook so that should be fine.

We have finally started playing the new edition of Traveller and everyone seems to like it. Luckily they have already formed the habit of lifting off and heading for jump at the end of the evening - leaving me a week to come up with something for the planet. For some worlds there is existing background information from older works or the (rather nice) Spnward Marches book.

Looking at the map and the UWP of the world and the worlds around it has now worked twice, for New Rome and Aster. New Rome gave me some trouble until it finally clicked into place but Aster seemed to write itself and should provide a few weeks play all by itself.

The sources I have drawn on are typically catholic. Scenario writing really benefits from a wide range of reading both within and without the genre. The old John Varley novel Titan made a contribution (living air ships - the ecology even seems to work for them which is astounding. I can steal and reverse the nautilus's feeding habits for them - they hide from predators high up during the day and descend at night to lower feeding tentacles into the water - a danger for adventurers and the creatures will not show up on RADAR either (well they might on a decent radar - water ballast and so on but probably not on a Far Trader's RADAR) - can anyone spot an encounter here? I think crabs are creepy so big ass landcrabs might be encountered on the few islands or even the polar icecaps, I hope they bring HEAP rounds for their snub pistols!

So far I have a page of notes and at least as much still to write down. This one will need deckplans for a refinery platform - shades of 'Oil Strike North' and the Dr Who story The Power of Kroll.
