Spell variants in a grimoire

...sorcerers of that cult can be expected to know all the spells in that grimoire, up to his INT in spells. This does, of course, apply to NPCs as well, so there shouldn't be overbalancing of adventurers and NPCs.
So would a sorceror who knows Bardan's Book start off with all the Project (Sense) variations that (s)he wanted? I'd assume that for "Typical lesser saint" on Page 202, "Enhance (Characteristic)" doesn't mean that they get all of them, but different saints get different ones. Am I right, that the terminology is inconsistent (one of them gets all variants in the grimoire, the other gets just one), or am I mistaken?

Where a spell like Enhance (X) or Project (X) is listed then there will be a finite list. Its unlikely that a minor saint grimoire would offer Enhance to every characteristic.

In the case of Bardan's Book the Army Book is very clear in its variants: it offers Project (Sight) so I think you've misread your text.

Is that in the Cults Book? I should be getting a copy today. I was reading the Second Age core book, sorry, should have made that clear. Thanks for clarifying.

Cults of Glorantha is now on the shelves of UK game stores, and in my grubby paws. I see now that "Bardan's Book", which was a single grimoire with Project (Sense) in the Second Age core rule book, is now a cult with two grimoires, one of which has Project (Sight).
