Speculative boresight

just a thought that occurred to me

If you had a ship that was adrift, and you knew therefore exactly where it would be at the end of it's movement, could you boresight that point?

I'm not trying to discover a new beardy tactic or anything, I just wonder if it would work, logically there is no reason it shouldn't as logically all one is doing is predictive firing which is how a boresight must work anyway given that most of the time ships are not really stopped.

just thought I'd raise it as a hypothetical question

Ships drift in the end phase, so a boresight on a drifting ship is always possible, as you line up the boresight in the movement phase when the ship is stationary

There are other situations in which similar thinking would apply. The Ambush scenario is one example - You can boresight the location which a ship will end up in if it fails to pass a crew quality check, and providing it does fail the check, it'll have no choice but to move into your boresight.

That is exactly what the Narn did in one the recent games in our Campaign... the CQ 3 Dilgar just looked on in terror as the Bin'Tak and G'Quans lined up their weapons...
