Spacecraft Models and Minis

Anyone have suitable models (3D models maybe) for 3D printing or for construction/customisation which have a Pioneer vibe?

There's been some discussion already on the Discord. A lot of 2nd Dynasty's stuff applies not just because of their Traveller background, but also terrain, interiors, vehicles and minis. The current "Exoplanet" work applies to both Martian and Lunar landscapes. The vehicles will take some tweaking but they even have "tailsitter" ships that can work out as well.

They have a ton of minis in vacc suits (not an exhaustive search):

Sure, I'm biased in the fact that I have enjoyed their campaigns and even used their gridforge system and kitbashed models to make a version of the Calendula from Death Station:

Be awesome to see some Basic Space Station style cylinders that are connectable, along the lines of the the small craft campaign like the Modular Cutter Modules upgraded to GridForge. These could be used for Orbital stations, or as early launches with the cylinder repurposed as a Cockpit/Habitat Module and something grafted on as the Drives/Service Module.

As I posted in a separate thread, Anvil Digital Forge are good for space suits, but they also do modern and near modern. Since you can usually strip off multishell detail they are often a lot more useful that at first sight.

For example, their British Space Force are designed as Warhammer 40K proxies... but if you strip off the epaulettes and skulls and such, you end up with perfectly servicable jackets and pants that might do for some uses. Aaand... one of those uses might be staff uniforms for space (and Earth) hotels and cruises.

Their Modern Special Forces kit with all the armour and pouches stripped off actually ends up looking a lot like Star Trek unifoms... leave a few pouches on and they have a much more Traveller/Pioneer vibe. But as is, is useful for soldiers in a range of situations that might come up on Earth, or maybe elsewhere.

Their Cyberpunk Special Operatives are a good mix and match kit:

Plus of course, the NASA kit, which could not be more Pioneer unless you put it on a rocket and launched it into orbit...

And... it may not be super clear from these kits, but they all have male and female options (other kits, like the very useful modern civilian one, are more distinct). Anvil are sensible with this, so the space suits end up pretty much being bulkier and slimmer, and except for unarmoured torsos you often can't see the chest difference.

The title was kinda specific for a reason.

SPACECRAFT models and minis.

For instance, while these models may be great for a Traveller campaign, they're not that useful for PIONEER

I know it's not exact, but at least 2nd Dynasty has tail-sitter ships and the tools for modelling deckplans, and small vehicles that at least are similar to the some of the artwork we've seen (like the shuttle in the sample mission). You asked for a vibe and I tried to show you what I was adapting.

The Cutter nodule from the Small craft campaign could be a start, just needs end caps for instant larger than shuttle era ISS modules.
The Grant cab from the stretch goals of the campaign would be an awesome Launch cab, combined with the fuel module from the Cutter stretch goals, and the Grant engine to finish it off. Would be good enough for Pioneer era spacecraft at least for Leo to Geo transfers - depending on how much Handwavium 𐤃V between the engine and the fuel. I got a physical print from John of the 30 Ship's Boat from the campaign. 1762790589928.png

The Traveller ships (even interface vehicles) all use antigrav plates and thruster plates, no?

I currently need zero encouragement to get my own 3D printer.

Traveller does, but the smaller capsules and whatnot could easily be imagined as Zero-G with crash couches. The idea was a bridge to Pioneer with minimal modification. The tail-sitter ships are not Traveller, per se, have decks that are oriented so that down is in the direction of the rockets. The engine and fuel section above don't really have an orientation.

Oops! Sorry.

It depends on what you're after, and why. If you're after spaceship interiors in general for miniature combat, 2nd Dynasty are probably still the go. you can Lego their ship components to your taste, and exteriors aren't really required for gameplay.

You may also want to consider this one of theirs:

It's designed as a three deck sphere, but there is absolutely no reason the default deck usage has to be followed. Everything is modular. You can repeat the middle deck, say that that access ladder keeps going down through fuel decks, have the whole sphere a pressurised crew area with the fuel and engines elsewhere on the ship... whatever suits. Have multiple spheres connected by a ceiling hub around which they rotate.

But if you're after scale ships for space combat, maybe this:

Yakships

The 2nd Dynasty decks and walls are also very good for bases. The top two decks of the Hyperion make a nice small dome.

Edit: Further thought... models really won't be that useful a lot of the time, especially in microgravity. It's a cute idea to have a 28mm orbital capsule, but everyone is strapped in or at best having fun floating around a bit. The Bezos one, which is roomy for a 6 person capsule, is only 3.8m in diameter. In deckplan terms, less than 4 squares*. If combat starts somehow, everyone is already at close combat range. Less room than a locked stateroom.

So... it really is only going to be bases and big ships that will need interior models.

(*so many things are circular or curved that you may as well discard the grids. Just provide a scale, and measure.)

It's just look and feel, not even "use"
