i agree its a nice new look that makes me wish you still did printed versions, loved the new articles about surviving gencon and gaming in other countries one slight error i noticed in your report you forgot to mention that the Maid rpg is actually the first japanese rpg translated and released in english, its by the same guys though so you werent far off with your info

Ahhhh ... thats really strange, when i did the research it mentioned Maid was the first book to be translated From Japanese but it was into Korean, i never read anywhere that it had already been made into English... i feel a bit embarresed.

) ahhh i believe i missed out a word, Fantasy. Tenra Bansho, the first Fantasy RPG to be translated.

Indeed, however I did notice that my article on Agent Contractors was placed under the Traveller brand when it has no connection to Traveller, it was intended for Corporation. A bit of an annoyance.

Landscape must surely be essential for an online magazine. I was trying to read the Lone Wolf artcle, and at the bottom of every column, I had to scroll down, then scroll up again for the next colum and so on. Very frustrating.
White text on black isn't good. I am quite please the two articles I was interested in - Lone Wolf and Victory plans where largely on white. Anyone tried to print black background yet?

I must admit that while it looks nice and jazzy it's an awful lot less usable than the old format. I have a wide-screen monitor and 3-column, portrait text at 100% does not fit on my screen: result I have to scroll up and down for each column. I'm certainly not going to print it off because it'll drain my cartridges so the net result is that where previously I read all of S&P out of interest, this time all I did was scan the pictures and copy and paste the RQ piece into Word so I could read it.
More generally, 3 column fully-justified text at that font size and that small page size is really an odd decision. Spacing goes all to pot and the RQ stat blocks end up being full of wasted space.
The overall look of S&P is far nicer but when you try to actually use it, the effect is retrograde. Sorry to be negative when people have put a lot of work into it and it is free but hopefully honest criticism is useful.

Thanks for the praise guys. Will and I have worked immensely hard on this over several months. The Portrait decision was made for a very good reason which (if Will and I get our way) will become apparent in the coming months but trust me there is a good reason.
I trust though that the quality of the look and the material will make a little extra scrolling worth while.

There are two more remarks, however:
1. Those yellow words "Are you ready for" and "sample the new cities of" have jagged edges, while the third line at the bottom and white "Lonewolf" in the middle is pretty smooth. Nothing really serious but still, it's on the cover. Besides I'm just curious how that could happen?
2. I agree with Greg above that white on black is poorly readable, on the screen at least. It looks classy but it's tiresome to concetrate on text for a longer while.

Pretty, yes, practical, no.
I'll read far less of it now, as it just isn't screen friendly.
Laying out a pdf specifically for printing when it's a download is just bonkers. For example, the timeline piece only works if I print it out.
White on black? A positive deterrent to printing it out.
