Solo Traveller

Mongoose
Hi, first time poster here with a question. While reading the State of the Mongoose 2011, I came across this:

"Other planned titles for 2012 include a tournament-ready Trillion Credit Squadron and, something to tie up all the little sub-systems that comprise the game, Solo Traveller, allowing you to play a full Traveller campaign without requiring players to turn up every week!"

Now I am primarily a solo gamer, so this news is awesome for me. In fact, just reading that made me go out and order the main rulebook :D Is this supposed to be the same book as Supplement 8: Campaign Guide, or a different book?

Thanks!

I'll be keeping an eye out for it. Despite getting all the basic Traveller materials at Origins, I have yet to find any players (a couple semi-locals claim to be interested, but make zero effort to actually play)...so a solo book might be of use to me.

Yeah I am the same its impossible finding enough players to play this game unless you are lucky enough to have kids of the right age and interests. Its always been like that for me and Traveller I've always played it more on my own reading books, designing things etc than playing real games except for a couple with family. Even the role playing club at Leeds Poly when I was a student wasn't interested in Traveller. And playing solo isn't all that much fun either - I've tried the odd trading game on my own but it was pretty dull without other players so I gave up trying that. Now I just do the odd combat solo game. I don't know what a solo book would be like but I can't really see myself playing it much. Role playing games are nothing without other people to play with - its that social interaction that makes playing them enjoyable.

But I tell you what - get into Dungeons and Dragons 4th edition or Pathfinder and you will have loads of games possibilities around. I don't like fantasy as much as sci-fi but at least you can role play with some real people and that's good enough.
