So what happened to the multiplayer game book?

A couple of things to resolve before it gets released. However, it is already written and artwork is being gathered for it. We'll give you updates when we can!

Well quit wasting time talking to us, man! Get to it!

Are you able to answer a couple of questions about the format yet? Like what the dimensions of the book will be and how many pages?

Current plan is to have it the same dimensions as the gamebooks, so it'll sit nicely next to them on your shelf. Couldn't tell you about page count though, since I haven't really looked at it - other projects are eating my time this month.

It would be nice to have all of the books be uniform in size... but for the RPG, I'd have to disagree and suggest a book the dimensions of the first RPG. My reason is this. The current gamebook is very tight and will not lay flat. It would be nice to have the gamebook lay flat when open, but it is vital for the RPG book lay open. Also, the gamebook pages are very small. I foresee a lot of page turning trying to find things while playing the RPG. That happens enough as is in the games I play, but with a smaller page, it would happen even.

Woot! Count me in if it is of those dimensions.

Great news. Has it gone into playtesting yet? (I doubt much will be needed for such a simple system, but still...)

And when can we see previews?

Laslty, can we get a word on how chargen is handled, and what character types there are? Is it possible to begin play as a vakeros for instance?

I have to say that while I like the idea of the RPG to be the same size as the gamebooks, it makes more sense to make then the same dimensions as other RPGs. So that the RPG can be referenced easily, and to limit page-flipping, the RPG should really be normal sized IMO.

I'm with Xex on this. Please, please, please play test it even if it doesn't require much every rpg should get some play testing.

I'm really conflicted on the size issue. I'm a great fan of the Dragon Warriors books and they are small format but very well laid out and not to big. That said I'm also a fan of the old saddle stich lay em flat and see lots of content. :?

If the book is relatively small and if you think about the rules sections of the game books I would think it will be I would go the small format and hopefully quite a few books.

Could a Mongoose give us a rough idea of the expected page count?

Thanks.

WW.

my vote on the size depends on the page count..
if there are too many pages in the small format I vote for a larger format..

so 64/72/96 pages I vote for a small format
more than this count I hope we go for a larger format...

The last we heard artwork was being commissioned for it. Hopefully we will get some news soon...I would think they want the rpg to hit the stores right around prior to the gamebook paperback versions, so the rpg will be there and ready for those who pick up the gamebooks for thefirst time and want to try their own hand at characters in magnamund.

However mongoose better hurry it up a bit on this; they do NOT want any of their core rpg releases to happen anywhere near may-june 2008 (when dnd 4E hits the shelves and basically screws up sales for all competition for the next few months)

Greetings to everybody, I was a devoted (Italian edition) Lone Wolf player as a child, and now propose to collect and replay the books in English. I am one of those fans who think that Lone Wolf without Gary Chalk's illustrations isn't properly Lone Wolf.

I hope that among this artwork there will be at least some Gary Chalk's illustrations. I am not an RPG player, so Chalk's artwork would be the decisive factor for me to buy the Lone Wolf one; I think that I will buy the French edition for just this reason, and would like to know if the new English edition will feature any Chalk's illustrations not included in the former.

However, there would be something even better for me than a Chalk-illustrated Lone Wolf RPG: some (at least partially) Chalk-illustrated revised Lone Wolf gamebooks. I hope that not all is already settled for the latters' artwork and that Chalk's participation can be still considered, and think that many other fans share this hope (if so, please let the forum know).

Besides, I think that Chalk's illustrations, which integrated with Dever's text and let you live a unique mediaeval-like outlook, could make the gamebooks more interesting even for readers who have never had anything to do with the gaming world, but who appreciate art and literature in general.

Thank you for attention, and I apologize beforehand in case I have unwittingly introduced an issue already exhaustively discussed.

Hi, I never liked too much Chalk, i prefer Brian Williams. Richard Longmore is a good artist, and I think that his art, applied to LW gamebooks, is growing book after book.

Did you take the d20-RPG? If you are a devoted fan of LW you can't miss it! There is also an italian edition of it, published by Editori Folli. Yes, the interior art is not very good (by Tony Parker), but the August Hanh's text is very accurated.

P.S.
So are you italian? See my signature 8)
