So here are my first bugs and MI troopers [12 pics]

Mongoose
I will be building a games table soon and it will be mostly city / ruins orientated. As a result i wanted my MI to have an urban combat feel and my bugs to be a breed adapting to this environment.

Hope you like, i can't seem to get a very clear pic of the trooper sorry if its hard to see.

MI= shadow grey cloth, fortress grey power armour, chainmail n skull white on the morita and then dwarf flesh for the face, the base is painted in astronomicon grey.

'Nid= skull white undercoat, merchite red and fortress grey details.

I've "dipped"[painted] both models in watered-down ronseal walnut satin stain, which i did apply to quickly its messy so will redo again.

cheers guys, what u think?

Nice. They both seems to have a desert scheme. If you built a desert table it would look excellent with the two armiesw on them.

Very nice. I especially like the Arachnid Warrior's scheme. :D

I tried a dip on two Warriors to test and it didn't quite work out as well as yours.

cheers guys i've since added another layer of stain to the bug; ;] and the same with the trooper, the gun isn't glued so i will get some better photos later with some other weapons.

got my sergeant glued up tonight as well so gonna try finishing it tomorrow, i'll try put the photos up then

cheers again

Now m having a tricky time with my sarge, its between having him with a helmet or without.

Without

With

Im tempted to have him without helmet and try and model a beret onto his head, what u guys think?? [gonna pin mount the heads so u can see them both when sarge is painted]. The head is from a IG sarge, a little bigger than MI heads but i reckon if i smooth is down a little more will fit in nicely.

Yeah its working now :) and I would definatly go for a beret rather than the full helm (well unless you plan on fighting in unbreathable atmospheres).

here is the Sarge and Blister conversion [cheers to Galatea for inspiration] before stain is added so u can get an idea... sorry for poor quality on this one the dipped pics will be much better

well heres todays final work. the uncovered head of the Lt isn't fully painted and so unstained

hope you like the blister, again loved Galatea's idea.

They're looking good. I like that you can pose the shock stick in two ways. "Hero" mode or "Action" mode, heh.

Looks great, I think the Hero mode is a bit better than the action pose thou.... 8)

The more I see of your paint scheme for the MI the more I like it :) It looks very natural even thou they are wearing bue under desert camo armour.

Oh and is it just me or does it look the Lieue needs to give his nose a good blow in the last pic

yeah i think thats fair, its tricky getting the right mix of stain and water, i don't want to 'dip' them as i think they will appear even dirtier then.

i might just paint the bases normally, as all the collected stain finds it way here and generally makes the model appears as if trudging through rubble and alot of mud.

i might have a look at some more stains for the troopers, something with more of a darker finish and less brown.

anyone else had similar experience with dipping MI
