Slave caravans - slaver to slave ratio?

You are smart with your slaves.
If you remember in the movie (as well as in a pastiche by Andrew Offutt - Conan the mercenary) most slaves travel on foot with chains at their foot and arms.
They are so tired that they won't (and can't) try to escape. Moreover this make sure that only the fittest will survive.
In that way, you'll only need 4 slavers on horses and 2 others on a chariot.

Of course if the region is unsecure, you will have more slavers to defend the caravans but also more slaves to reduce the overall costs, say 20-30 slavers for up to 200 slaves.

I originally considered having the slaves travel on foot in chains and could see that for the initial leg of a trip to market. If taken in a raid, they're marched back to a stronghold. Once at the stronghold, however, I would think it would make sense for the slavers to keep them contained which is why I though of the wagon-cells. I would also think that having the slaves on foot would require more guards than if they were chained up in a wagon.

Good food for thought, though. Thanks.

1 slaver to 1000 Brythunian maids! And I, of course, would offer my services to be their sole escort! :D

LMAO! Sign me up for this duty. However, I seriously doubt the slave caravan would ever reach it's destination!
