SG did it with their magazine while it lasted and it worked for them.

Printed magazine would be good PR(as long as quality is good) for Mongoose. Free webmagazine might be free but there are lots of people who prefer printed copies.

My printed copies of fanatic magazines all rate above any edition of S&P online magazine in terms of enjoyment.

I prefer to download S&P, that way I don't have to tear up the magazine if I only want to bring a few pages to a game. I can just print out the articles I want.

I prefer the download because the only Mongoose games I actively play are SST RPG (not too many articles for THAT recently) and Conan -- which also has been kind of a hit and miss. I wouldn't pay for a whole subscription of S&P unless I knew there was going to be at LEAST one Conan article and with the HOPE of a SST RPG article. Besides, if they keep producing the compendia every so often with Conan, I can do without even the downloads!
