Shadows Vs Battlestar Galactica

AMBUSH scenario

BS on patrol through space with 2 Viper flights 12” to port and starboard. There’s an asteroid field in the upper left corner, and a planet in the lower right.
Shadow phases in 26” to port.

1 – BS fails React roll (dradis operators were sleeping) and moves forward while Vipers move towards the Shadow.
Shadow fighterbombs the BattleStar.
Shadow Cruiser vapes one Viper, the other dodges.

2 – BS fails to React again
Viper closes on the Shadow Cruiser.
Shadow Fighters strafe the BattleStar causing minor damage.
Shadow Cruiser vapes the Viper

3 – BattleStar finally reacts and turns to port, launching 4 Vipers.
Shadow Cruiser moves into firing range. Shadow Fighters pull back to weapons range and destroy 1 Viper. Shadow Cruiser savages the BattleStar.

4 – BattleStar wins Initiative
Shadow Cruiser stays to port.
Vipers swarm the two Shadow Fighters.
BattleStar turns to port and launches fighters.
Shadows fire and miss the Battlestar.
Dogfight ends with 1 dead Viper, 1 dead Shadow Fighter.
Battlestar hits the Shadow Cruiser for 10 damage, stopped by shield.

5- Colonials keep the initiative and the BattleStar brings the Shadow Cruiser into range of its forward batteries.
Shadow Cruiser destroys 4 Vipers.
BattleStar misses the Shadow Cruiser with 30 Dice! An aft battery destroys the last Shadow Fighter.

6 – Shadows retake Initiative and move to port and the slicer beam hits for 25 damage, tearing the port side off the enemy ship and reducing its speed and losing weapons control.
The BattleStar returns fire, but fails to break the shields.

7 – The Colonials desperately move and bring the last Viper behind the Shadows while the BattleStar turns to bring its main guns into arc.
The Shadows scream their anger and slice the BattleStar in half.

8 – The last Viper turns and runs, Shadows give chase.

9 - Viper turns to make one last defiant attack and the Shadows vape it—6 Dice attack with 5 hits and failed dodges.

- Overall, it was Shadow dancing around the board. The Colonials were unable to keep their heavy guns in arc and the Shadows stayed beyond the flightpod batteries’ range. When the Colonials had Initiative, the Shadows were swarmed, but their shields held up against the best the Colonials could throw at them.

Very cool write up. I like it when you can make a story out of a game.

We have tried a few war level vs shadow ship games, and this paragragh could sum them up nicely. (except for the Colonial bits). But I think you may have short changed the poor old Colonials though. I don't have my books near, so I'm not 100% certain, but I thing that the rules for the defending ships in the ambush scenario only apply for the first turn. From second turn onwards the defender can move normally.

If I'm wrong then I don't want to ever use my Pak fleet as a defender for this scenario.

you're right banichi. its only the 1st turn you need to try to react. god if it was every turn the defenders would lose every time.

although also I thnk the Shadow player could have started at 6" away and the Colonials could not have any fighter launched. The Shadows must have asked the Cyclons "What do you want!?"

however it sounded good fun and be interested to here about any more similar games - thanks

Vorlons vs Ori anyone?

We got plans for a Shadow vs BaseStar later on...and something about the Colonials sending in the Pegasus for a recon-in-force.

I don't want to be 6" away...shudders just thinking about all those massed flightpod batteries with with 15" ranges.

We're using CourtJester's stats by the way.

Cheers for that.

Took a look at the range, first thing I noticed was no Galactica! Licence issue perhaps?

Also the cylon base ships are fat, whereas they should be long and slender.

Some of the ships looked OK though.

Thanks anyway.

Ravenstar has things for sale that are not listed on the order form page. You just need to email him and inquire.
