Shadow's transport capability

Hi,

Had a question about Shadows that those of you in the know may be able to answer.

These statements are from what I've read on here and evocommmand and what I understand of the stats atm.

Two Shadows, according to Hiro's card, take up one transport slot.
One transport slot is allowed per infantry squad.
One full marine squad = 17 men (4 full fire teams and one sargeant.)
One transport option for said squad is two shadows (carrying capacity of 12).

Is that correct?

If that is the case, why wasn't the third shadow included to allow an entire sqaud to be transported rather than leave five men to slog it on foot?:?

In some respects I can understand a concern that there might be if someone decided to take a two infantry squads with fire team one each and then max out on shadows, but surely the rules should be in proportion to squad sizes.

Just a thought. Any feedback or other's opinions on the issue would be welcome.

Thanks

i agree.

would also fit the fact their are 3 to a box

as 4 squads make a platoon, so upto 8 shadows, but then if you buy in 3's you end up with a spare unwanted shadow.

Thanks evil. It just seems strange that you would end up with a spare shadow and five soldiers foot slogging it across the battlefield.

If a transport option was available per squad and was limited to the number or men in the squad, that may balance things out (eg a single fire team could only take 1 shadow whereas 2-3 could take 2 and the 4 got a third). maybe a statement like "You may only take as many transports per squad as is needed to transport that squad." or somethng like that anyway.

I think the idea of a spare shadow is good, as when your opponent has just lost 700+ points worth of tanks to shadows for no losses it won't matter so much when he hurls one round the room ;)

Cordas, you need some new playing buddies if that is how they treat your models!

My angst isn't about having the spare so much as being unable to accomodate a full infantry squad of marines in one transport option. I was thinking a bit more on this and one answer may a rule in the Advanced Rulebook or wherever that states what I said above or better yet "You are allowed one transport option per infantry squad in your force. The number of transports within this option is dependant on the number of models in the squad. You are allowed as many transports per option as is required to transport the entire squad in as few as transports as possible."

That should do it...

maybe they send a few shadows back in preperation for for rescuing and transporting guys at end of battle, so bare no effect.

The tactics of defeat. I don't think the Corps would look too favourably on that sort of thinking mister.

Bad for the men's morale. Can't having them think they are cannon fodder...nor can we have them think...just point and shoot, if it moves shoot it some more....Hoorah.

Errr think its more that my buddies need a new me  , I wasn't amused when I lost 2 type 99s to a pair of shadows (I only managed to kill 1 shadow by making it fail 3 armour saves).

I didn't *actually* throw the model around the room (was actually a humvee pretending to be a shadow that confused my gunners) but I wasn't best pleased. Oh I did complain about my dice a bit, but my opponent agreed that his dice had favoured him and mine where just being plain cruel to me, but such is any dice based games.

You're just lucky that these models are machine washable...
