I am always open to any submissions, but as writers you need to have a thick skin. It is my intention to really boost the quality of S&P over the next few months, and this will really help to challenge the writers also and help them to shine.

Please all keep submitting your ideas, but if they are not accepted then you need to just move on with the next one. The vast majority of submissions have been outstanding recently though... I am spoiled for choice!!!

that just adds to the list of 'reasons I tend to think the RPG sourcebooks are full of it'

As one of the primary writers of many of the b5 RPG sourcebooks...I kind of take it to the chin with comments like this.

I personally feel that the RPG has done wonders for the overall Babylon 5 universe (although I will admit that there has been a few oddities that probably should not have made the cut), and that I sincerely hope that we have collectively enhanced the immersion of Babylon 5 for our fans.

The "JMS-only" folks will never like anything we create, I know that. I just hope that the majority of the folks we reach out to do.

Cheers,
Bry

Hmm, I am sure you are busy, and you imply it might be the standards of writing as much as the source. What are your thoughts on being able to help guide people to write better assuming there actual idea was good? or would this be too time consuming?

I do do this already. The same as with the artists that work with me.

I edit everything but I draw the line at rewriting pieces, which I am sure you can understand. I am always willing to be as helpful as possible but I find it rather disrespectul to me when people take the rejection the wrong way. My responsibility is to S&P as a whole and I make my decisions accordingly.

It is not appropriate for me to list of reasons why I do not accept articles on the forums, and in fairness I have to make choices at the end of the day, it is never nice to disappoint someone but I do what is best for the magazine and for the company.

Anyone who would like any pointers or would like me to look over some of their work is always welcome to send me things, I am more than happy to help where I can, although if i take a while to reply you must understand that I have a very heavy workload!

Cheers guys

Nothing personal meant by it Bry, by all accounts theres plenty of stuff I DO like in the sourcebooks where it expands on areas that are hinted at in the show but there are equally some ideas in them that just strike me as contrary too the feel of the show (as with this 'shadow souled minbari' idea).

Now I'm not saying I speak for lots of folks or anything this is just my personal feelings on the subject (and the original comment was meant to be taken with a pinch of salt ;)). I'm certainly open to the B5 universe being expanded (hell I play crusade EA in ACTA which is more or less all made up from a where things were heading at the end of the show).

Basically sorry if it came across as a shot at you, not intended as such, some of your work I like some I dont, thats just a matter of personal taste, but really when you writting 3rd part fiction for something like B5 you have to expect a certain amount of nerd critisism ;)

that all sounds very fair. I don't think explanations belong on the forum on individual submissions. They are between yourself and the writer. Sadly for me I have some great ideas, then am little more than "adequete" at writing.

I don't know if I'm a "JMS-only" guy. I'm pretty adamant about keeping canon and fanon separated... But I kinda enjoy the novels and alternate universe stories too, like LC's Dilgar War and Da Boss' Darkness Rising. Their canon status is quite clear, we just have to respect the fact that JMS created the b5 universe. But it doesn't prevent those fan stories from being entertaining...

It all comes down to execution of the idea IMO. If it's well written, enjoyable and interesting, I'm all for it...

Personally the idea of Minbari heretics really piqued my interest
