Gentleman, I have news - I was going to go into each individual thread, but figured collating it into one would be more sensible! Anyway, the latest scoops;

1. The Federation Reinforcements (already available mail order) and the Klingon vs. Orion squadron sets are being manufactured right now, and will be shipping to stores in a couple of weeks.

2. The Kzintis are being prepped right now, and will have their production moulds good to go next week. They will be 1-2 weeks behind the two new squadron sets, those who have pre-ordered while see their cats a little sooner.

3. As soon as the Kzinti fleet set is released, all fleet sets will be increasing in price to $124.99. Apologies for this, but there is an awful lot of metal in those boxes. However, if you were after one of the existing fleet sets, you still have a little time before we change the price on them.

4. The Gorns have half of their new ships prototyped, and the rest will be complete within the next two weeks. They should be appearing about a month after the Kzinti.

5. The A Call to Arms Journal is aimed for a late June release, but we have a few bits and bobs to bring together on this one. Stay tuned.

6. Don't be surprised to see some new ships that are not in the core rulebook popping up in the very near future...

What's the fleet box price increase going to be in real money (£)? ;)

And the 2nd real money(€)?-) Currently sitting at 100€.

Hmmm. I might have to order the klingon fleet box sooner than intended then...

edit: quick guess. 90£, 115€ or 120€.

edit2: Matt you COULDN'T have told of this yesterday morning?-) I could have added the klingon fleet box to my order and get 10% off it. Now I'm reduced to mere 5% off(or add another 100€ worth of stuff to order. I'm not going to sink THAT much money in one go)...Ah well. 5€ only so won't kill me.

£79.70 or 99.64 at current rates.

Don't forget that we need to add VAT onto the Sterling price.

However, in this case, we are helping you chaps out - they will be £80.

Not too bad an increase then. I've just ordered a Romulan fleet box through my LGS anyway, but I can't see the increase putting me off future fleet boxes.

99.64€? Nope. More than that. That's what it CURRENTLY costs(at least on the one finnish store that sells them(though only as "order as needed". No stock).

Though guess there could be stores in german etc who sells for 90€ now. Wouldn't surprise me too much that finnish store adds bit of finnish extra ;)

Yeah though 25% increase is notable. But hey GW just increased their army books 25-33%...And they up their prices every year.

Hell who am I kidding. I'll prolly eventually get the agile gorn(turn 4 agile? Yikes! I'm getting outturned by gorns in game I'm playing currently via email!) and kzinzi fleet boxes too!

I'll certainly get the squadron box for Gorn. I don't need 4000 points of Gorn like I have Feds (I've got 4240 points of Feds? And I still need another fast cruiser?).

Here's a question - Squadron box 8 is a Gorn DN, BC and Destroyer, with a mobile base and an armed priority transport. I'm fine with this as a squadron box, because it has 3 Gorn ships, a civvy and the lovely mobile base model, but will there be a specialist Gorn only squadron box?

Border box 3 is also looking like a good buy.

Just totalled my Feds up as being about 6700. And I still need another fast cruiser ;)

For UK at least, I only make the price increase to be about 7%. I guess the rest of the 25% increase is the $ losing value or somesuch?

How many Feds have you got? I've got the fleet box, 2 Federation reinforcements (traded one BC for E4s) and a New Fast Cruiser, and to be fair, that seems a little excessive, though I do want to be able to field a fast cruiser squadron before fast dreadnoughts come out.

I'm sitting at about 8,335 right now. But I've got another CA coming and I still need Fed Reinforcements and another CF or two.

Is everybody trying to get a Wolverine CF squadron?

In the SFB background, didn't they only ever make three of them?

Scoutdad, are you trying to collect the entire Federation OOB for the start of the General War?

2 fleet boxes, a reinforcements box, a fast cruiser, strike cruiser, new fast cruiser and command cruiser. Maybe I should just get another fleet box and aim to have the first 10k+ battleforce ;)

Excellent, I'm eager to get my hands on some Orion ships, any word on the Raider Cruisers themselves? They're not in that squadron box but I really want a few.

Ouch, and I was just joking with some friends the other day about GamesWorkshop and how it was great that Mongoose wasn't hiking their prices. Guess I jinxed it?

On one hand I love surprises and am intrigued. On the other hand, wouldn't it really be better on focusing on getting all the ships in the rulebook out? Then again "very near future" might be several months and after all the book minis are released, I don't know!

That said, if you DO put out some ship minis not in the rulebook, are we gonna get rules for them, or are we gonna have to wait for whenever Battleships (or whatever the second CTA:SF book is going to be called) to be released?

That said, I hope against hope its something Orion related. I could use some more ship options. :| (Battle Raider (BR) or Enforcer Heavy Cruiser (CA) please!)

@ Ben2: Yeah the Federation (and most nations) only made a handful of their fast cruisers (the specialized warp engines required are fantastically expensive monetarily), in fact only a single Manta Ray NCF was built (to replace one of the Wolverines which was destroyed).

That said, its just a game. While I love the SFU fluff and tend to make decisions that support it, I don't think other people should be limited to it. Consider them "What Ifs", afterall, fleet battles of the level portrayed by your average 1500 point game were uncommon AFAIK in the General War, it was mostly small squadrons going at it. Very similar to Naval Battles in WWI/WII.

Seriously? Don't see much of logic in that. Designing new ship is such an expensive undertakement one would expect them to at least use the design more. If you only build one might just as well save the resources and build two of the old versions then and likely still save resources...

My fleet is already an alternate universe fleet. (I'm using HMS instead of USS on my ships, and GCC instead of NCC as the prefix). I guess the British version of the Federation just have a larger number of Wolverines ;)

Fluff talk:
New Light/Heavy Cruisers are built using the Federation's Destroyer construction berths (this is one of the major features of their design). In fact production of the Saladin class destroyer ended virtually overnight in favor of the Kearsarge NCL.

The Wolverine requires the Cruiser construction berths, and those were busy building Kirov class Battlecruisers. Meanwhile the Ortega War Destroyers are being built in Frigate yards.

And I'm serious when I say those "Fast" engines are really expensive, IIRC the Wolverines cost as much as a dreadnought.

Mostly good news all around. The price increase is annoying but inevitable I suppose. Even with the price increase the fleet boxes are still a fairly good deal. I can only imagine what the border boxes will cost.

I actually can't wait for the Kzintis, can't have the general war without them :) At the speed I expect such a game to progress the Hydrans will likely be released long before I'm ready for them.

Curious to see what will be in the Journal and new ships are good also. Could these new ships be the long-promised scouts??
