Seriously wounded/injured still able to function?

Stainless

Mongoose
In 1e, if someone was seriously wounded they were not allowed to carry out a minor action (i.e., only one significant action allowed but that was still convertible into two minor actions). This seemed to make sense as you would be "spending time" saying "ouch!"

This rule seems to have been dropped. In fact the terminology "seriously wounded/injured" is no longer defined although the wording appears in numerous places in the draft. I understand that the damage system has changed with all damage coming off firstly from END so you can't get the situation where you have at least one point off of END, STR and DEX. Is END reduced to 0 the new seriously wounded/injured? Or have you completely dispensed with the distinction between just wounded and seriously wounded?

I'm just wondering if that is a design choice or was forgotten from the draft?

If formally dropped from the rules, I think I'd house rule it back in making END = 0 a serious wound and then docking one minor action. Surely there should be some sort of penalty for being seriously wounded/injured.

This is used in both MgT and MgT2:

"Damage is initially applied to a target’s END. If a target
is reduced to 0 END, then further damage is deducted
from the target’s STR or DEX (target’s choice of which).
If either STR or DEX are reduced to 0, the Traveller
becomes unconscious and any further damage is
deducted from the remaining physical characteristic.
If all three physical characteristics (STR, DEX and END)
are reduced to 0, the Traveller has been killed."

The MgT seriously wounded text was not written good (see well), so was left out of this version probably.

I like the idea of losing some of your actions when End hits zero. Otherwise there really isn't any penalty until Str or Dex start being sapped.

The penalty will be a lower END characteristic modifier. Some referees make use of END for other things as well in their games.

I was thinking that almost never happened in combat, but then I saw this:

A Traveller can become fatigued in several ways.

After making a number of consecutive melee attacks
greater than his END in a single combat.

Just to chip in here, inspired by a thread on COTI, the Companion will have some alternative ideas on injuries and how to handle them.
