Sell me on Strontium Dog

Ezqerra art? Not pretty? That kind of statement must be against The Law, surely?! :o

I love Ezquerra's space ships, BTW. I'm definitely looking forward to building some of them - are there guidelines for using the Traveller ship building rules with SD?

No. I don't see how they'd be different. I, too, love Ezquerra's lovely, knobbly spacecraft, but that's just artistic flourish rather than any particular need for a new ship rules set. There's no reason why a 100 ton Type S in Strontium Dog can't look completely different to its usual wedge config but still behave in the same way stats-wise. Really, its down to referee description and player imagination.

The rules focus firmly on mutations, the bizarreness of the galaxy and bounty hunting. Ships are there to get from A to B; there's no wholesale changes to the ship rules.

I didn't mean the art :P While it's not Bolland, I like it (especially in SD). By SD not being pretty, I meaned the tone of the stories not being pretty...

BTW, I like the title and the direction most of these posts on this thread have taken.

I was not super interested in but with the pitches and open dicussion, I am interested now. :)

Wish all the threads would be this positive active in their take of things.

Having just re-read a classic Strontium Dog story involving lots of space battles, I've completely changed my mind on this. Strontium Dog ships are faster than their Traveller counterparts. So, Jump values (renamed to Warp, which is used in SD) will be refigured to reflect this.

Would the Warp Drive rules in the TMB work? You might not have to change things as much as you think...

I have never read SD. But, I think I might have to pick this up!

Very interesting ideas. Besides, you need stupid weapons some times...

Its easy enough to fix (in fact, I've just done it in the manuscript); it was catching the difference that was important. Had the earlier poster not mentioned this, I wouldn't have re-read that story and seen what I needed to do, so this thread has been a great help.
