If I shoot a seeking weapon at a ship in a dust cloud do they get the stealth save?

If the ship in the dust cloud gets the save would the seeking weapon also get a stealth save?

Yes, Stealth saves are resolved AFTER you hit a target. Seeking Wepons would fire like normal then for every Hit (Potential Dmage Point) you roll the Stealth save. So if I fire a Drone at a ship in a Dust Cloud the Drone, if it is under 18" Auto Hits, if it is over 18" I roll a to ht like normal. Once I hit the target I roll a D6 for the Multi Hit. Say I get a 5, now somebody rolls a 5D6 every 5 or 6 is a hit (Damage Point) taken away. So I rolled a 1,3,4,4 and, 6. Onnly 4 Points of damage actually hit the target's shields and if those are not present then they roll on the Attack Table.

No, see above. The weapon being fired, exploding and, any Defencive Fire you get to make are not effected by Stealth, only with the Damage Resolution does the Stealth save of 5+ comes in to play.

Yes - its all about the timing of things - stealth saves are done for each and every Hit, hits are calculated after you announce firing, after defensive fire and more importantly after you roll multihit to get the number of hits. Thats the point they get to save for stealth....

So you put 4AD of drones in on them at under 18", assume all reach the target (no successful defensive fire) then on average thats 14 hits rolled with multihit D6 (lets cheat and call it 15 to make my maths easy). So stealth 5+ will mean on average 5 hits get stopped - so 10 will hit.

One thing I hadn't considered, is if Stealth would affect the defensive fire of the vessel in the cloud or not, I think the drone doesn't get a save....you need to ask that one to Mongoose.
RAW specifies vessel and hits but the intent seems to be both ways effect - it would be nice to get a firm statement that the RAW is deliberate. Until I hear otherwise I'll be saying NO stealth for drones getting defensive fire.

However their fire on you will give you the same stealth remember!

I asked that when we first got our hands on the rules and was poking all the loopholes to see what went squeak :lol:

Only ships or anything that classes as a ship gets a stealth save.
