Scouts and Line of Sight

Do scouts need line of sight to use their abilities.

Example. I have a White Star I within 36 inches of a Sharlin and want to reduce its stealth but there is a planet and/or an asteroid field between us. Can I still do it?

Line of sight isn't required to use the Scout ability.
