Scout Re-direct

Does a scout tha tis trying to re-direct fire to a ship or reduce Steatlh need LOS to the target? It does not state it in the rules.

Thanks

If the Scout does not have a line of sight or the enemy ship is behind a asteriod field or dust cloud, then how would it be able to re-direct fire if the terrain blocks line of sight?

Maybe the firing ship can use parts of the scouts CPU Power to help in the calculation for the aiming process :D.... The CQ check is needed to see if the crew could establish a network over w-lan :D.

two words.... advanced sencors, they may be behind an asteroid, but they can pick up engines, comms, etc and direct the missile to its target

Because the rules do not say it needs a line of sight.

Actually the rule states "If a Scout ship is within 36" of a ship with the Stealth trait, it may target the enemy ship" To me "target the enemy ship" means that it must have a line of sight.

I know thay don't state LOS but the wording could be a little more helpful.

If we are going to get picky about wording then Stellar Debris might Block LOS but that is not a factor for Ships shooting each other...

The rules say

"For a target to be attacked successfully two conditions must be met. First it ust lie within the appropriot fire arc of the weapon system that will be firing at it, as shown on your ships roster. Second, it must be within range of the weapon as also shown on the ships roster.

The rest of that section mentions nothing about a ship having to be in LOS to be attacked.

Also those first 6 words play havok if you take them as B&W for reducing stealth...

There is no definition of "targeting" given in the rules. There is a definition of "attacked successfully" but assuming the word target to mena the same is dangerous when it is also being used to mean choose or nominate.

I'm just saying its never worth reading too much into the wording used in ACTA...

Yep, its oversimplified. No modifiers for range, debris or other logical things. Heck, the scout doesn't even have to get past a ships stealth. Go figure...
