Off topic for the recent discussion on this thread but, in taking away the centauri's beams I just hope they didnt take away all their beam weapons because I remember one episode, where a Centauri and a Narn ship (looked pretty close to the same type of ship if I recall correctly) duked it out in front of Babylon 5 during the early episodes of the Centauri Narn war.

Edit: Oh and one other thing I'm worried about is EA having its best guns moved from its front to its broadsides, how canon is that? Though I suspect it will be to late for any changes.

In that episode, only the Narn ship fires a beam weapon. The Centauri Primus only fires pulse weapons, while the Narn G'Quan fires a beam and pulse weapons.

Are there episodes where centauri used beam weapons, I hope so, or one would wonder how the Narn got them, though I suppose it would be simple to develop beam weapons with centauri tech.

A proofreading company? good idea! but will they be able to spot errors like a pulse weapon that is actualy a plasma weapon?
I wouldn't expect them to be able to spot that. But bad spelling, grammar, bits of words where they sholdn't be... yes they should spot it.

No, there are none. In fact, Dr. Franklin explicitly uses the fact that Centauri do not use Beam weapons when submitting evidence as an "expert witness" in a court trial.

Just played a 4 pt raid game against Dilgar where they had more beams than me! (Elutarian, 4 Maximus :D , 4 Corvan), losts the Corvan - oh well, and couple of Maximus.......but it was all good - helped my fighters were ship killers with their 3AD weak guns! Couldn't dodge but could blow things away.

Course in 2nd ed that would have been - how many Interceptors!!!!!!!!!!!

have fun!
:D

No more Tertius? :( :( :(
The prefect was always an abomination but the Tertius just needed a tweak to have a viable second war choice.

Luckily for me I am fielding 6 Tertius in a game this weekend
A last hurrah as the fly off into the rim never to be seen again...sniff

Oh then I guess they shouldn't have beams at all them.

Wrong. He said they user their lasers more akin to projectiles. Exploding(or something like that) rather than slicing.

Still lasers.

Technical drawing of primus shows however lasers. Canonical justification right there...

Wrong again

He says that the Centauri energy weapons function in an explosive rather than cutting manner

no mention of beams or lasers

though not the forward prongs as Matt says in the article

those are the sensors. AOG were talking about the wing mounted prongs (not visible on the model)

So? Not everything is shown in weapons anyway. Primus has lasers in canonical background. Of course if you want to go for unofficial fan-fiction by all rights take lasers out but I'm more interested in canonical background so lasers they have.

Not to mention this little problem:

EA got lasers from Narns.
Narn weapons were taken from Centauri.

EA lasers are therefore derivate from Centauri=centauri have lasers.

Otherwise both Narn AND EA are deprived of their lasers

I don't see your point......

I was correcting Matt's statement that the sensor prow is the lasers

Interesting thing, apart from the fact that only 19 fleets were listed only 16 fleet boxes were listed.

So what is the 20th fleet? Ancients?

Will there be new fleet boxes for the Psi Corps, Gaim and Raiders? And also for the mystery 20th fleet if it's not Ancients?

LBH

Have you count the Civilian-List?

The Civilians were not mentioned as a fleet in the article, only 19 fleets were, that's the point I was making. The article only mentions 19 fleets despite stating that there are 20 in the game.

buit argument isn't just contradiction
yes it is, if I argue, I must take up a contrary position...

Sorry I was just trying to recal the Monty Python sketch  ...........back to the proper discussion

So 2nd Ed its great! :)

I don't really think the "ancients" should be classed as a fleet, but heck, if they are, then the Hurr should be too, making 21 fleets, and then the other unique ships too!

A fleet box of 5 Hurr gunships would be kind of boring though. Not to mention it would give a grand saving of $0. And it would be cheaper to buy them separately in £ :) .
