A lot of the other, lesser RuneQuest settings have core rulebooks written for those settings only. Glorantha, the major RuneQuest setting has to use the generic rulebooks.

Isn't it time for a core Gloranthan rulebook? :P

I was initially going to say no - but then I realised that to get the basics you need at least RuneQuest (basic or Deluxe), Glorantha: The Second Age and Glorantha Players Handbook (for some of the racial stats etc).

So I voted yes - but only in so much as it wouldn't change or add to the info already out there, just an easier way to get all that info in one book. However whether it would be commerically viable is a different thing entirely.

I also think it would be a great opportunity to update the game system.

Let's face it, the game system is a hodge-podge of rules spread over multiple books. House-rulling is rife and the combat mechanism could be improved in my opinion.

I vote yes with both hands

The problem with this is that the rulebook would quickly become the core book by default. That's ok for those of us who enjoy playing in Glorantha but would mean fewer copies sold for Mongoose.

That said, there is a problem. The campaign Dara Happa stirs draws material from 5 different books as well the core books and that is really not very friendly. There isn't an easy way to deal with it but it would be good to have a one-stop Glorantha book that DOESN'T have the core rules in in order to make room for a sort of Player's Guide Deluxe.

So I vote no. I would like, however, a revised version of the core books at some point because they are a rather rambling mess.

What I find most curious is that in another thread, a big majority of people voted that they didn't use the MRQ rules but still play with 2nd or 3rd edition rules.
So what is the need of such a poll?

The Core rulebook should have been a Glorantha core rulebook, and it should have been complete.

I have no desire to have to re-purchase material I have already bought just because Mongoose finally realise how it should have been done the first time. (Which is why I haven't bought Deluxe). So Yes there should be a Glorantha Core book, but No, I won't be buying it.

A fully revised and properly edited and layed out cult book (in a single volume) rather than the horrible mess we currently have is probably more important though...

I think we should be supporting Mongoose regardless of the mistakes of the past and helping them to get it right for the future, which they can do. By making it Gloranthan you are not even remotely going to affect the sales.

The name Runequest, quality artwork and writing, a proper conception of how the rules should play is what will bring in the buyers.

Glorantha is hardly cranky if you avoid grotarons and ducks which is hardly a difficult thing to do is it?

Yes I will buy it.

I'd like one and voted yes, but with the caveat that as it's kind of too late - it's irrelevant until there is a significant rules update. MRQ2, now then I really want to see a core rules/Glorantha book.

This was what I was thinking of. :)

Incorporate the fixes, some of the stuff from the Gamemasters guide and the players guide to glorantha stuff and hells yeah. I'd be all over it

To really act as pick up and play book not only should it have all the rules that apply to Glorantha presented as for Glorantha I would think it would benefit from having a specific part of the world in detail.

The obligatory world overview should be necessary, but people don't 'get' Glorantha based on such broad summaries. I would think a small area in detail with a supporting short scenario or two would help newcomers grasp the setting.
