Runequest Empires. Psyched

Can you give an idea of what the stats for a domain might look like ?

Military
Law
Size
Comms
Wealth
Religion

There are then meta-stats just as for characters, and both Basic and Advanced skills, figured in much the same way. Both nations and empires use exactly the same stats and capabilities.

Will this cover everything from a small duchy or fiefdom up to a big empire?
Yes.

Strategic warfare ? (as opposed to hte more tactical mass combat in Legendary Heroes)
Yes. Very strategic, measured in months.

On that note.. any legendary abilities that influence your empire ?
Yes there are! Or rather, ways of channelling the power of your empire into your personal activities.

Will this be detailed enough to play almost as a strategy game on its own, or is it purely supplemental to an RPG?
It really is both. You can play this as a standalone strategy game (and you can play it solo), and as a part of your standard campaign.

How is magic factored in ?
Magic is highly abstracted. It has to be at this kind of level, but it is, nevertheless, a part of the system.

Tell us 3 cool things that'll be in the book

All the above, plus the ability to, as a noble, run your own fiefdom, manage its problems, advance your position, war with neighbours, and marry the duke's daughter...

Loz,
This is a generic MRQ book, but will you give concrete examples for Glorantha for instance?

Yes. The examples use the Middle Sea Empire and EWF as specific instances of the rules. Both empires are also statted-up for use, alongside the Bright Empire and Roman Empire (circa 1st Century AD).

I forgot something:

Its like in old times when we were all kids: "Who would win a fight: Spiderman or Superman?" ;-)
According to my wife, I am an old very big kid still.

Speaking of cross overs between Glorantha /Elric .
I been thinking of bringing in the Zistorites in an Elric game as some very nasty lawful types ( Their implants and other stuff would be then all science and no magic) .
The Zistorites would not have Dragons or demons but they would have War Constructs, the enslaved, clockworks and other nasty stuff
So I would have the Lords of Law and their Clanking City verus the Lords of Chaos and Imyrr

The book sounds promising, and I will likely pick it up since I would like to use the RQ system for a long term campaign.

This book was already looking to break my "Only buy RQ books if they have "Glorantha" on the cover" rule - on the basis of this thread it definitely will.

EXCEPT that the Young Kingdoms are a part of Michael Moorcocks Multiverse, and Glorantha is a closed world (the only character coming from an other world and going to yet another was Redbird... and Greg Stafford thinks that it was a BAD idea to do this.

Only official character. I'm sure Redfox turned up in a Griselda story.

Grr- the message board doesn't seem to like wikipedia's url's with brackets in them - still I'm sure you can work it out for yourselves...

Excellent idea. Thanks for the answer.

Didn't you break it already with Monsters II?

Will the Carmanian and Dara Happan Empires be covered?

Not for this book, no. Effectively Dara Happa is part of the EWF, but Carmania isn't covered. That said, I may do a supporting S&P article that expands on RQ Empires for the Gloranthan setting, so Carmania would get coverage there.

Nice. Thanks Loz.

No, (but I did break it for Land of Samurai - I'm not just a Loz groupie - honest!)

But you certainly do know that most (i.e. 90%) of Monsters II contains Glorantha specific creatures?

I do, but as I have the (rq3) Gloranthan Bestiary and the (HW) Anaxials Roster, how much do I need another Monster Manual?

Besides which, I don't feel like supporting Mongooses confusing "Glorantha is the default setting for RQ except when we say it isn't" policy. I can expect a Gloranthan creature in a Gloranthan book to fit into Glorantha. I expect questions about Gloranthan creatures in a non-Gloranthan book to be brushed off with "This is a generic book, so we don't feel constrained to fit in with Glorantha"

You're quite right. I opened a thread some times ago to state this book should have been brandmarked Glorantha.
In fact Monsters II included most creatures from the Gloranthan Bestiary and Anaxial Roster but also several dinosaurus and broo breeds and snake as well as Praxian mounts and even rubble runners.
The only thing I miss so far are the Algimori.
