Mongoose
Well I have been away for awhile but its time to get back to basics so this being said.Who has any ideas on improving VAS? Now how to approach this. I have seen many ideas around the forum but my goal is to get this in one spot. Next when you post your ideas give us what you think can be done to make this suggestion work within the rules. No we dont need to worry about a point system if this happens it will be last. I have ideas myself on this subject but havent worked it out yet. When I get my idea clear I will post it.

Okay, I've only played VAS a bit (before trying other systems), so I'm not aware of what is "broken" in the game (if anything) but these are my suggestions:

1) Point system - like ACTA. I think the priority system could remain as well. Some love priority, and its a great way to make up a fleet quick - but if your group is semi-competitive 24/7 (like mine), the priority system distills down to just taking the best in each category all the time.

2) More gradations of armour. I think having only 6 gradations of armour is okay for a fictional setting, but since we are modelling real world ships with lots of variation (and data) it would be great to make more of a distinction. My suggestion is to add a second armour number to some ships. This would be a roll that you'd have to beat if you rolled exactly the armour value on the first roll. Eg. 4+/4+ If you roll a 5 or 6 you penetrate. On a 4 you need to roll again and on a 4, 5, 6 you penetrate (AP only applies to the initial roll). With this second die you can get quite a lot of variations in armour.

Sounds like a good idea that you could use in your games. on this I would have to give thought. as I have my own ideas but havent thought them through yet so I will think on this and let you know what I think.
