Rules question. Plasmas? (vs. Klink and crits?)

Two questions:

1) Plasmas don't check for shield bypass because they "envelop the entire ship. " How does this interact with the Klingon 1/2 damage to fore arc attacks rule? Is damage halved anyway based on arc?

2) Since you never roll attack dice for plasmas (page 7 damaging enemy ships and 15 seeking weapons trait), how do plasmas crit per the example and apply their Devastating trait?

Thanks!

As far as I know.

1 )- Yes, Klingon double shield work against plasma, though only if it strikes the front arc (remember the RX option). In this situation you roll the plasma damage and half it (so a 4AD plasma would roll, getting a total damage of 14 say, which the shield would reduce to 7).

2 )- Plasma's, as seeking weapons, do not require a roll to hit, as the automatically strike the target (like drones). After hitting, they work exactly like a standard weapon strike (anything that gets though the shield will roll on the damage table (bulkhead/hull/critical) as normal. The only diference is that seeking weapons, as they do not roll to hit, cannot 'leak' though shields - as you don't roll 'to hit', you can not roll a '6' to hit.

Hope thats clear, - and, Yes, fear the Plasma :?

So the only way they crit is after shields are knocked down?

Yes. But its Plasma's so if they are close enough to fire at you that shield is generaly going down anyway
