Rules Question: Bonus HP from Fighting Madness

During a recent game session, the question of how many HP are gained from Fightig Madness came up. We have always played it as 2 HP(from the +4 CON boost) per Character leval up to 10th. That is how gaining HP from CON increases is supposed to work, correct? However, nowhere in the description of Fighting Madness does it actually SAY this. Second, where is it actually stated that HP increases from CON increases are retroactive? Is this something from the SRD that just wasn't reprinted in Conan? We don't doubt that we've been doing it right. We just would like to know where it is written.

1.) You have been doing it right.

2.) Overview -> The Abilities -> Constitution:
"If a character's Constitution score changes enough to alter his Constitution modifier, the character's hit points also increase or decrease accordingly."

3.) When you find something missing in the Conan rules, check the SRD here:

Basically you can assume that every SRD rule applies, as long as it does not contradict a Conan rule (and unless that Conan rule is in error). Obviously Conan rules always have priority over SRD rules.

What we're asking is, when a character's CON modifier increases, does the extra HP gained apply only for levals from that piont on, or to all previous levals as well? Do the rules explicitly state additional HP from CON increases are retroactive back to leval 1?

It is retroactive, but I don't know if it's written anywhere more specific than the line I quoted above. The fact that it's retroactive can be deduced from this line, which is repeated in a more general way at the end of the Abilities section.

I have been using it "retroactive" with our Barbarian. But then again Conan is my only D20 system so I dont have any references to go on. My reasonoing was I also go "retroactive" with the ability increases and my players (levels 6-8) really look foreward to those "across the board" levels that are like magic items that cant be lost or stolen. I believe that is the gist of the Conan genre and it seemed to fit with fighting madness. Also note the Barbarian found out that all those extra hit points will drop you when they go away! Hope this helps in your decision.

Con mod to HP is retroactive, Clovenhoof already quoted the appropriate text.

The reason it is retroactive is that HP reflect your current state of health, which can change over time.

Later.
